Daily Bible Thought > 1Cor.3:20-23. - All Things Are Yours

All Things Are Yours

1Cor.3:20 And again, "The Lord knows the reasoning of the wise, that it is worthless."{Psalm 94:11} 3:21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, 3:22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours, 3:23 and you are Christ's, and Christ is God's.

Now think of this, ask yourself this question thoughtfully? Do you believe nothing is lacking in Christ that all things are yours? Now think of this, when we don't believe that as God's anointed, we will find that we have troubles with others.

Hebrews 4:2 For indeed we have had good news preached to us, even as they also did, but the word they heard didn't profit them, because it wasn't mixed with faith by those who heard.

Actually, the apostle Paul makes a profound point for us that all these wars and fights with others, in this case, within the congregation at Corinthians were simply because those involved thought they were lacking in Christ.

Luke 22:35 He said to them, "When I sent you out without purse, and wallet, and shoes, did you lack anything?" They said, "Nothing."

Romans 3:3 For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?

2 Corinthians 8:15 As it is written, "He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack."{Exodus 16:8}

Psalms 23:1 <<A Psalm by David.>> Yahweh is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.

They were fighting with each other over prominent teachers in the congregation thinking if they did not defend them as, better, loyal, faithful, righteous, and having gifts that they would lose that person teachings skills, and be lacking in Christ. As strange as this sounds, these brothers and sister hadn't thought through the process of being in Christ? Why are there jealousy, fights, and envy? It is the fear of losing something in our lives, which is a fear of our flesh. It is the fear of not being respected, the fear of not being appreciated, is it not - that we deserve more?

James.4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members?
4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask.
4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures.

James. 3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth.
3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. 3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.

James. 4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow let's go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit."
4:14 Whereas you don't know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. 4:15 For you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that." 4:16 But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil. 4:17 To him therefore who knows to do good, and doesn't do it, to him it is sin.

First, Paul does what each of us needs to do, put ourselves into our real place, for when ever we are out of place we are in a war trying to gain some place not given to us. Paul tells each one of us, we only serve as God's tools, tools, (tools don't direct the brain) that are made by God, and given too us as gifts. But don't get high minded, only God can make his work grow. In other words, if we are in Christ, not the flesh, all things are gifts, not earned, so if a gift is given freely for the good of the body why boast in men. Why lie boasting that somehow what we gotten is from us? Does the finger feed the brain of the body, or rather does the brain feed and direct the finger, does one cut out the brain if the finger becomes infected? Or rather does one cut the finger off to save the life of the body?

Rom.11:16 If the first fruit is holy, so is the lump. If the root is holy, so are the branches. 11:17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them, and became partaker with them of the root and of the richness of the olive tree; 11:18 don't boast over the branches. But if you boast, it is not you who support the root, but the root supports you.
11:19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in."

Now we are forced to examine not the other guy, but our own motives, what makes us push, and judge so harshly? The truth might just shock you? The evil slave could not wait upon the Lords time tables, but why? Well, he wanted to punish other slaves now!, He wanted their judgment on his terms for what he thought he deserved within the body of Christ. So he made himself wicked, and used his God given authority and beat his follow slaves.

Luke 19:22 "He said to him, 'Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn't lay down, and reaping that which I didn't sow.

Matt.24:48 But if that evil servant should say in his heart, 'My lord is delaying his coming,'
24:49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards,
24:50 the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn't expect it, and in an hour when he doesn't know it,
24:51 and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.

Matt.18:32 Then his lord called him in, and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt, because you begged me.
18:33 Shouldn't you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?'
18:34 His lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors, until he should pay all that was due to him.
18:35 So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you don't each forgive your brother from your hearts for his misdeeds."

The flesh always acts the same in all of us, we have what is common to all men according to our Lord, not unless we think we are special above it all? These brothers and sisters could not wait to punish their brothers and sisters going against their chosen teachers, it that simple, they wanted God's judgment right then and there and if not they would take matter into their own hands by beating fellow slave to be sure they got God's judgment, with God's word, more then like his law found in his word.

James 4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

James 4:12 Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?

James 5:9 Don't grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won't be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door.

But, let us remember the original question? Is there anything lacking in Christ? Will God says no! So nothing any fleshly brother or sister builds in this world which is not in Christ will not stand unless it is built Christ at his spirit direction. All will see clearly, (those in Christ, not those in false religion) if it is of man's fleshly motives, and/or the Christ? Their works will be revealed as if by fire; exposed painfully every bit of trust they have put into their project will become known as truth or a lie? Nothing lacks in Christ for the household of God, which is under judgment all the time. In other words, the works is in progress as we speak and has been for two thousand's years. No matter how grand the sales job is, no matter how righteous the sales job sounds, or how many idols of names are dropped, and boasted in, we are warned as God's anointed our fleshly works will be burnt up, nothing lacks in Christ including our discipline. No buddy was getting away with anything, many had fallen into this judgment of the flesh promised us by Christ, and still they have fought to keep their pet projects, but it does not matter those works will become nothing, and they themselves will be saved, but made ashamed in their boasting outside of Christ.

1Cor.3:11 For no one can lay any other foundation than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ. 3:12 But if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or stubble; 3:13 each man's work will be revealed. For the Day will declare it, because it is revealed in fire; and the fire itself will test what sort of work each man's work is. 3:14 If any man's work remains which he built on it, he will receive a reward. 3:15 If any man's work is burned, he will suffer loss, but he himself will be saved, but as through fire. 3:16 Don't you know that you are a temple of God, and that God's Spirit lives in you?

Those great teachers will have the same treatment as the lowest it is the same judgment small or great in the body of Christ, nothing will be lacking in Christ, even if these brothers and sister failed to grasp the truth that they were all one body, one Spirit, one faith, one head, so each member was there for the body created for the body from the least to the greatest. Now really stop and think what is being said? Is the hand for the body, so the eye can say all things in the body is for me, and me for the body? How then can there be a lack, jealousy, envy, and hate? When body members are still being feed, discipline, and cherished, despite our personal feelings, if we think as a finger that we have the power to judge our own body beyond Christ our head, wow!

Matt. 7:1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged.
7:2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye? 7:4 Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye? 7:5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.

Romans 12:4 For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don't have the same function,

Romans 12:5 so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

1 Corinthians 6:15 Don't you know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!

What good would that do? Is not the body one, if I judge a member aren't I judging myself? But that not fair someone will retort, we must make the eye obey the hand, and the hand obey the foot, and the foot obey the heart, does the body exist divided? Who does the body belong to, all of us, but none of us, it is our body, but under Christ direction, it is his body he has given us freely through God's undeserved kindness. How many tongue are in our own body?

James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna.{or, Hell}

2 Corinthians 2:17 For we are not as so many, peddling the word of God. But as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, we speak in Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beg you, brothers,{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."} through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

2 Corinthians 4:13 But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, "I believed, and therefore I spoke."{Psalm 116:10} We also believe, and therefore also we speak;

Now where is the boasting? Imagine if you will just for one brief moment if all believed that and lived by that, what type of a spiritual feast would we all be in? Do we understand what the unity of Christ is? The oneness Christ prayed for in John chapter seventeen, honestly? How can their be unity when were ourselves can't even be honest with our own motives? Will, thankfully, God is faithful and we can rest assured that each person works will be shown up in the body of Christ for the good of all, so that member will be saved as part of us. All things were created for us in Christ, every body member is for us, every thought in Christ is ours, every teachings, nothing lacks if we rest in Christ righteousness and desist from our own in faith, that is, trusting what is said by Paul is true?

Romans 5:17 For if by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; so much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, Jesus Christ.

Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you.{literally, into your bosom.} For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you."

John 3:34 For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure.

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace that was given me, to every man who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith.
