Don't Boast And Don't Lie Against The Truth

James.3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth.
3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic.
3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.

How simple the truth is to those with a childlike spirit, but how complicated and confusing the truth become when it lies about the spirit of our flesh?

Gal.5:14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."{Leviticus 19:18}
5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you don't consume one another.
5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won't fulfill the lust of the flesh.
5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.
5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
5:19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness,
5:20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies,
5:21 envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these; of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

That is exact what James the half brother of Christ was stating above. Why were brothers and sisters lying about the selfish spirit in their flesh while using God's word to correct each others? It not that hard they knew what God's Spirit works and fruit were, and they certainly knew what the selfish lust of their flesh was. So why lie about the truth of their real agenda to have some selfish need meant at the cost of calling God a liar, and slandering their brothers good work in Christ?

James 3:8 But nobody can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 3:9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the image of God.
3:10 Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
3:11 Does a spring send out from the same opening fresh and bitter water?

Rom.7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.

They were saying that out of Spirit and truth comes curses and blessing and if they could use the scriptures to prove they were right they could hid the jealousy, envy, selfishness, judgment, hate in their own heart. If they could tie some good motive to it by scripture they could save face and look good in their flesh.
But did they really love the truth, and the Spirit, that is, Christ the truth, and Spirit of God YHWH?

Matthew 15:8 'These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

Jesus The Light

It is interesting that's exactly what Christ dealt with those saying they loved the light because they were Abraham children, but hated Christ. Christ did not conformed to their fleshly teaching that they judge everyone by. So Christ told them don't judge by the flesh, come to the light that they may see if their works were God's works.

John 8:15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.

John 3:20 For everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn't come to the light, lest his works would be exposed.

John 3:21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God."

But most did not, they instead searched the scriptures to find fault with Christ because he did not conform his worship to their fleshly idea of worship they felt was correct in God's eyes.

John 11:21 Therefore Martha said to Jesus, "Lord, if you would have been here, my brother wouldn't have died.

Luke 7:34 The Son of Man has come eating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a gluttonous man, and a drunkard; a friend of tax collectors and sinners!'

Luke 9:41 Jesus answered, "Faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here."

Luke 11:29 When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say, "This is an evil generation. It seeks after a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah, the prophet.

So Christ help them, don't look at my flesh, don't believe what people are saying about by flesh and its connection look instead to the works that I am doing for the Father.

John 10:25 Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you don't believe. The works that I do in my Father's name, these testify about me.

John 10:32 Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from my Father. For which of those works do you stone me?"

John 10:37 If I don't do the works of my Father, don't believe me.

John 10:38 But if I do them, though you don't believe me, believe the works; that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in the Father."

Nevertheless, they hid the truth of their evil hearts trying to justify it by some good motive so they did not look bad in the eyes of flesh.
No the flesh is of no profit, in fact, there nothing good in it, so why brag and lie that some good motive is in it when the very spirit is against God's works?

John 7:3 His brothers therefore said to him, "Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.

John 7:5 For even his brothers didn't believe in him.

Luke 8:20 It was told him by some saying, "Your mother and your brothers stand outside, desiring to see you."

Luke 8:21 But he answered them, "My mother and my brothers are these who hear the word of God, and do it."

Time of Inspection

They refused to come to the light they thought the things of their fleshly hearts were hid to Christ and the Spirit, but they failed to understand the Spirit does not accept the lie. The Spirit does not care what our flesh wants and thinks it needs. The Spirit is not a handmaid to the agenda's of the flesh or will it compromise truth for the lies of the flesh. Yes, every person is a liar if they hid the truth of their own selfish needs while using the scriptures to justify them.

John 8:55 You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, 'I don't know him,' I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word.

Romans 3:4 May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, "That you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment."{Psalm 51:4}

Now the time of judgment had come upon those saying they loved God and his works, what would they show to be their real hearts condition? They murder Christ, and even his own disciple deny him, how could they have gotten it so wrong? They loved themselves and the flesh more than God's glory!

James 4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members?
4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask.
4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures.
4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, don't you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously"?
4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."{Proverbs 3:34}
4:7 Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

How could they see God's works by Holy Spirit and deny them in a day? It is because they thought something good dwell in their flesh, but if they had come to the light the truth, they would have realized the flesh is of no value at all.

Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;

Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.

Romans 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.

Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.

Romans 8:12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

This spirit of flesh was found in all the early congregations of God, Paul would not conform to what some thought was a superfine apostle to the needs of those wanting things in their flesh. So they lied slander Paul and his words, how he conducted himself as the did Christ.

1Cor.1:2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;
1:4 who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.
1:6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer.
1:7 Our hope for you is steadfast, knowing that, since you are partakers of the sufferings, so also are you of the comfort.
1:8 For we don't desire to have you uninformed, brothers,{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."} concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia, that we were weighed down exceedingly, beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.
1:9 Yes, we ourselves have had the sentence of death within ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead,
1:10 who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;
1:11 you also helping together on our behalf by your supplication; that, for the gift bestowed on us by means of many, thanks may be given by many persons on your behalf.

2Cor.11:3 But I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve in his craftiness, so your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
11:4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus, whom we did not preach, or if you receive a different spirit, which you did not receive, or a different "good news", which you did not accept, you put up with that well enough.
11:5 For I reckon that I am not at all behind the very best apostles.
11:6 But though I am unskilled in speech, yet I am not unskilled in knowledge. No, in every way we have been revealed to you in all things.
11:7 Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached to you God's Good News free of charge?

Paul told them the truth that they should just stay home then go and make a fleshly show of your righteousness in the flesh at the Lord evening meal and deny the truth of what Christ actually did. Moreover, he was forced to say this painful truth that some so hate to hear in the flesh.

1Cor.4:1 So let a man think of us as Christ's servants, and stewards of God's mysteries. 4:2 Here, moreover, it is required of stewards, that they be found faithful. 4:3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by man's judgment. Yes, I don't judge my own self. 4:4 For I know nothing against myself. Yet I am not justified by this, but he who judges me is the Lord. 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each man will get his praise from God.

Paul warned them that God was not going to condone such evil that he did have the power by the Spirit to discipline the flesh if need be, that one could be handed over to Satan by The Spirit for the flesh discipline and when they fell into all manner of vile acts perhaps they would come to the truth of what they really are, not what they think they are in the flesh before God. Perhaps they would stop judging their brothers in the flesh and accept the undeserved kindness of God in truth and humility.

James made it very clear that these brothers and sisters were in the light, and Christ was the light, and he was at the door at all times to bring them into a speedy justice if they continued to brag and lie about the truth of their own selfish flesh hiding it behind God's works and word.

James.5:8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. 5:9 Don't grumble, brothers, against one another, so that you won't be judged. Behold, the judge stands at the door.

2 Corinthians 5:16 Therefore we know no one after the flesh from now on. Even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know him so no more.
