MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > How We Produce Good Fruit

Col.1:10 that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 1:11 strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy.

What good works? Here we come upon the hardest point for most Christian's imagining they are not good enough of themselves to produces good works, and they are right, condemning them in this manner!

Our good works from our fleshly will are not the works spoken here, nor will they give us joy, endurance, and perseverance, but why? The good works here spoken by Paul are proof we are of the vine of Christ Jesus, bearing good fruit. We are the branches the life through the branches produce the good fruit, not us of our own life, or from the will of our fleshly body. This is why many Christian's follow men or an organization mimicking some fruits, but proving false to its power, and what does this mean?

It means that on the tree of life Jesus Christ there is only good fruit, that is, a good tree cannot produce some bad fruit. Where fruit mimic from our own goodness comes from our will to look good in our flesh it is false religion. Paul speaks to those receiving the imperishable life of Christ full of dynamic power increased too us by God's loving kindness towards us, not of our earning by good works of our own will.

So many Christian's have been broken in their faith by mustering the power from self to be a good tree, which they cannot be. Nobody, no human can muster of themselves too be good enough to produce the fruits Paul is speaking about here to the Colossian congregation. Paul speaks the fruits of Christ Jesus by his life working through us in God's power not our own.

What can we offer in this undeserved free gift, nothing but faith, that is, our trusting God in His promises to complete in us the good work He started in us, by unmerited kindness. Yes, resting in Christ Jesus as a branch does on a tree that the life of the tree will flow too us and bear much good fruit and that my friend is proof of our faith in God.
