MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > No Fleshly Act

1Cor. 7:18 Was anyone called having been circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Has anyone been called in uncircumcision? Let him not be circumcised.

Here the apostle Paul gives directives to the body of Christ Jesus telling them there is no act of the flesh that can make them more righteous in Christ Jesus, but why?

First let us note that the flesh is dead in Christ Jesus, crucified as it were, when these bothers and sisters were made into a new creation by God's own Holy Spirit. Subsequently, no act of their flesh was going to save them, or put them into a better standing with YHWH their God. Now they must like all of us walk by faith worshiping our heavenly Father in Spirit and truth, which is, in Jesus Christ.

No longer do physical acts of the flesh meet God's standards of pure worship, the flesh is of no value at all, it is the Spirit that is life giving, which Spirit? The Spirit of God in Christ Jesus righteousness imputed too Christian's by God's own unmerited love for them. Those wanting righteousness through circumcision would find death instead of life, yes, death, why? Simply put, the Law mandating circumcision of the flesh was removed, set aside for a superior righteousness in Christ Jesus who is Spirit and truth of the new covenant.
