MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > 1John 3:3 Purifying Ourselves

1John3:3 Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.

When a person thinks of purifying themselves, they usually think of doing some good work in the name of Christ Jesus, through their religion, but is this how one purifies themselves as John stated above, no!

There is only one purification from sin, and that is Christ Jesus, the blood of Christ Jesus expressed in his own righteousness without sin. Subsequently, it is by faith in Christ Jesus blood, given too us by God's own unmerited kindness. Moreover, can a Christian put away the filth of their flesh, and not be a sinner? Once more, no! They cannot, what they can do is ask God for a clean conscience through the blood of Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Purifying oneself by personal efforts, will not make us pure in God's eyes, it is by our faith in the life of Christ Jesus, God's Son that purifies the person before God, but how? By putting faith in the life of Christ that these anointed Christian's had been made a part of, that is, walking in love, which means being in the spirit of the body Christ Jesus the law of freedom, which is love. Staying in Christ life they would purify themselves by faith, walking not by sight, but faith in the very witness God had sealed in them by an incorruptible seed.

No sinful human can purify themselves by laws of the flesh, rules and;or doctrines, these brothers and sisters must know that so they would not be mislead by apostate teachers of self-goodness, in works of law for merit to purify themselves. They could not purify themselves it was a lie, that is, by self-will and good works effort, this teaching appealed to the pride of the flesh, but they must continue in faith in what they have received from the start of their new birth into the life of Christ, which is imperishable, and righteous, it is this request of God that purifies them each day.

1John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1:10 If we say that we haven't sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
