MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > 1Cor.13:1 Sounding Brass!

1Cor.13:1 If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don't have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal.

There is nothing more powerful then love, and yet each one of us as humans have a different opinion of love creating a convoluted picture of the whole subject. The Apostle Paul here speaks of God's love, which is Christ Jesus to the human race.

Paul preached nothing but the Christ and for good reason, the issue of the time was the Old Law vs. Christ Jesus, and the New Law of Love, understanding this simply truth of all Paul's writings will keep the reader focused on the subject of Paul's writings; not getting off into darkness of doctrinal teachings since the time of Paul by most groups of Christian's.

Thus, Paul here was showing the superiority of being in Christ Jesus over the Old Law [ the scope of law Paul was referring to here was the Old Law, but later in his writings he encompassed all human laws governing the flesh, that would be rules, doctrines, principles of the Old law and so on.]

Essentially Paul was stating anything outside of the body of Christ Jesus no matter how noble, or righteous would be a sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal, but why? Because in Christ Jesus was the door to understanding God's love spoken below in this part of Paul's letter. Moreover, any works outside of the workings of body of Christ would be dead works, making a harsh aggravating sound compared to the love of God in Christ Jesus.

Dead works are works that do not produce life, no matter how great and intellectual they maybe, they come from human under laws producing death. In other words, they are not the “wisdom of God, which is Christ Jesus. It is the life of Christ Jesus as the wisdom of God that is the source of all sayings of eternal life for the human race.

The law of love is the law feeding and cherishing the body of Christ into the growth where it produces the fruits of God's Holy Spirit in its members. Nothing outside of the true vine Jesus Christ can supply to the body of Christ the love of God through the Holy Spirit, it is one more of the gifts of God's Holy Spirit.

The Corinthians congregation was caught up in the wisdom of men, they were worshiping teachers over the wisdom of God, moreover, they seemed to be taken by the so call wisdom of the world through intellectual's. In other words, they were fleshly Christian's looking to the power of fleshly teacher's.

They were willing to subject themselves to these fleshly men instead of the Christ. But none of them could provide the love of Christ and the growth within the body of Christ by their dead works. They were nothing more than a loud aggravating noise to the truth of God Spirit which had sealed the life of Christ Jesus into each body member, they could not play in sweet harmony with the body members producing any good works of eternal life.

Moreover, by putting fleshly intellect over the wisdom of God Christ Jesus they would divide the body by harsh and aggravating rules of laws to protect their position of power once gained. Their dead works would kill the Spirit of God which each member must be led by into the kingdom of God love in Christ Jesus.
