Col.1:12 giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; 1:13 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love; 1:14 in whom we have our redemption,{TR adds "through his blood,"} the forgiveness of our sins.
Does knowledge deliver us from darkness, this is a fair question because the Jews worship knowledge of the Law, today many Christians' groups will condemn other Christian's to eternal death because of a lack of knowledge in accepting their doctrine?
How have we come out of darkness according too Paul's words here to Colossian's congregation from God's own love in forgiving us our sins, what does this mean. Paul was full of knowledge of the Jewish faith, but he was violently opposed to Christ Jesus. Paul was in darkness though he thought his knowledge was light.
Paul meant the light on the road to Damascus blinding him with the incorruptible light of Christ Jesus. Paul learned that knowledge can lead and mislead us, but being delivered from darkness must come from God's forgiveness of us by light Jesus Christ righteous blood.
In other words, Paul learned what we all must learn, that knowledge will not set us right or in the light, it is the humble acknowledgment of what God has freely given us through no merited of our own that set us right before God. These brothers and sisters were light, not because of their own goodness, but because of the light of Jesus Christ given them by unmerited kindness.
Moreover, they had been transferred into the kingdom of the Son love, who would feed and cherishes his own body, thus, to say in the light required their own understanding of God's unspeakable goodness and not pride through falsely called knowledge.
