Matt.5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.{Isaiah 61:2; 66:10,13}
Does God have a comforter? Did the law of Jew's comfort the poor in spirit, or cause them mourning? When laws are increased so is mourning; not righteousness that the self-righteous would have you believe.
Here the people were mourning under the weight of law made for the wicked, each person under these law looked at others as wicked first, as not having the common good to do what is right towards neighbor without the Pharisee's enforcing laws upon them, making them treat their neighbors right; distrust, breeds distrust, and creates a judgmental nation!
But the fruit were on the tree, and it was rip; no the fruit was rotten in hate and judgment for brothers and sisters, and soon Christ would be the focus point of that nation hate, which had been in a pressure cooker by the fire of the law, which they had judged each other with for thousand's of years.
A fire was lite, it was burning this nation to the ground, by hate within the hearts of each person in this nation, it could not be put out without waters of refreshing forgiveness, they had stumble over law, leading them into judgment; for what we judge others with we will be judge. All this nation could see in those created in God's own image was evil, because the glasses of law point up sin and sins judgment. Yes, they were mourning because love cannot nourish or flourish in distrust, love can only grow in seeing good in others, and by forgiving others. But the Jews were locked up in the hostility of the law, they must judge to be righteous, or compromise what they believe to be truth, the Law of Moses.
But they had foolish stumbled, because the law did not make them righteous, it point up wickedness in them, it was the blood of mercy that made them right before God. The law blinded them to understanding why God give them the mercy seat, they felt righteous by seeing with the law, that is, walking by sight, in judging brothers and sisters weakness and then hating those weakness, while practicing the very thing in their own hearts.
