Matt.5:5 Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.{or, land. Psalm 37:11}
Blessed are the gentle, the meek as some translation puts it, but why? What it take to be a gentle person, or a meek person, lack of harsh judgment for others. Here Jesus spoke timely truth for those poor in spirit and mourning for God's righteousness, and not man righteousness through judgment of laws.
A gentle spirit does not treat others harshly when looking at the law of God which is righteous, nor does a meek person. But the flesh gets it strength through feeding on judgment by laws, it empowers itself in self-righteousness, but not the meek. The meek and the gentle must love truth, they must see they need help, because the know they to are a sinner deserving of God's righteous judgment, but God's goodness justifies them by a gift of innocent animal blood.
How could they be harsh, when knowing the truth of their own heart secret sins, how could they become self-righteous when their own righteousness was gift of God's mercy through blood? How could they not become gentle and compassionate towards others, waiting upon God and his goodness to fix what the law could not fix, the nature of our sinful flesh?
This was the truth that makes one humble and meek, not the hate promoted through their religion towards others, here is why Jesus could say with truth that those who are gentle shall inherit the earth, and those harsh will be burnt with fire of their own hateful judgment, which brings the same measure of judgment upon their by fiery hate!
