Matt.5:23 "If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you.
God has a controversy with all humans that violate his righteous law, what controversy? Sin causing enmity between us and God, yes, judgment alienates a person from God's love. There is no peace in judgment, judgment divides one off from the complete open, and honest trust of another person.
God provide a means to appease his righteous anger expressed through the righteousness of His perfect law, what was that? It was blood, blood of an innocent victim under the law, it was animal blood, why animal blood? Because animals don't break God's laws, so they are innocent to breaking the law. Peace came by appease for our unrighteousness by blood, nothing else would allow a person forgiveness of their sin but blood of innocent victims.
Now Christ posses the ultimately question to the self-righteous who thought they could be held innocent by keeping the commandments of God. If you hate your brother because your brother breaks the commandments where does that put you? Yes, where indeed does that put you? Can anyone stand before the Father of lights YHWH on his/her own merit, can a person actually earn enough merit in obeying the commandment's to be presented righteous before God?
Can you have peace with God by hating your brother by God's righteous commandment that condemns you as a sinner? Where must you go first if you come to the altar for peace with God spilling blood of an innocent victim that never broke God's law, while you hold judgment against your own brother?
How can these things be, no peace with others, over my own laws, and than you want peace with me?
