MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > Matt.5:33-36 - Make No Vows?

Matt. 5:33 "Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, 'You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,'
5:34 but I tell you, don't swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God. 5:35 nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
5:36 Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can't make one hair white or black.

What is the truth of mankind's word in the big scheme of things, it is like a shadow of a large tree whom shadows varies from minute to minute and day to day. There are hundreds of factors throughout the day and our life time that changes our words. We are liars, convicted liars by God's own righteousness.

We may vow and never keep that vow, we may have had the best intention and than something in our life, which is but a vapor, changes from health to work, and we are forced to break a vow we have made, that is, a promise. Here again is a commandment of Christ Jesus that no person that is honest can keep perfectly. In fact, we are so unrighteous when someone breaks a promise too us we may hate them for years, yet, we have all done the same according to Christ Jesus, how can we make that statement? Because Christ commanded us not to vow, which wisdom we should have, but don't because of our fleshly mind under sins laws.

In other words, Christ Sermon on the Mount is saying; “ you are a sinner here I am going to lay out the truth, the truth you can not, not stop sinning, and here are the reason that prove it”. A person seeking truth in love will immediately see by Christ Jesus words they are condemned in their own hearts, which in turn makes them ask the simple question: “ how can I be forgiven before you YHWH and change what I cannot change?”

The simply answer comes back: “ certainly not in your righteousness, but in Christ Jesus righteousness whom earned you life by keeping every word of my law, and never sinning against any of them. This is my gift of life too you.”

Christ Jesus is not saying; here are a bunch more commandments now keep these ones and you will stand righteous before God, no! If you cannot do the least of these commandments being as sinner, how indeed are you going to keep the law of the heart, love? Christ is telling his listener that God love's this world so much He sent His Son to do what we could never do for ourselves; so stop your self-righteous judgments of each other.
