MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > James 3:2 - We All Stumble?

James 3:2 For in many things we all stumble. If anyone doesn't stumble in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also.

We all stumble in many things if we are honest, that is, if we judge ourselves correctly, which is according to the Christ, we fail far short of the glory of God. We are not here talking about judging ourselves against how other do or don't do something according to human laws or even the laws of our religion or the bible. We are speaking truth here, how we compare our own heart against what Christ Jesus did while in his flesh upon earth.

How do we compare ourselves against Christ Jesus? Well, it not as most Christian's think by comparing themselves to an older Christian brother or sister, but rather to the law of freedom, which is love! In other words, to Christ Jesus, whom gave us the law of love by the new covenant. Here we find the truth of our fallen condition and our need for unmerited kindness in God's love. Yes, love does not look for evil in others, how do we do in this area? Love believes all things hopes all things, how do we score in that area? Loving our neighbor as ourselves?

Think about this comparison, don't look at the approval of some man/woman in a position as a teacher to tell you that your maturing in Christ Jesus, no! But rather live in faith, compare yourself against the truth and Spirit the bible teaches us, and than you will understand why few should be teachers and why we all stumble in many things. In other words, if a flesh person approves you what approval do you have? But if the Christ approves you by Holy Spirit which is the seal of truth, you than have the truth! This is not saying we don't need teachers, what it is saying is, the truth, most teachers are walking in is their own fleshly mind according to the laws of the flesh, hence teaching those laws, and being approved by a religious order created from the same laws of sin.
