MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > James 3:3 - Bits Into Horses Mouths?

James 3:3 Indeed, we put bits into the horses' mouths so that they may obey us, and we guide their whole body.

Why is it, that a horse of hundreds of pounds of flesh can be controlled by a bit of mankind, and yet we can't control the human tongue? Well, it is because of the human heart under sin though the fallen flesh of Adam. However, there is more, and what is that? It is that sinful human are under the laws of the flesh, which makes the fleshly mind judge according to wickedness, and what does this mean?

What it means is laws of our sinful flesh are for punishing the wickedness and/or evil in us. These laws are not the law of love that frees us from such judgments. So yes, we cannot bridle our tongue in this manner, we may hold our tongue, and not speak, but in our sinful hearts we judge, and often judge others harshly.

Our tongue speaks not, but our hearts speaks loud to the sinless righteous God in our real actions He alone sees and knows. God does not cover up the lie because we can master words like and attorney of the law carefully controlling each word of our mouth to deceive others who are religious, a “Christian”, no! God knows that we our a sinner, and that all men are liars, He does not condone sin by carefully placed words.

God has warned us, that each of us will be accountable for the words in our hearts, not just the ones in our mouths, but in our hearts, which mouth speak the evil/hate in our hearts. So here than is the real meaning of James words, James in not teaching law here as fleshly minded Christian's thinks, what James is saying is: “judge yourselves righteously, and judge others by the law of love.” Why? It is because, we must be under God's undeserved kindness, or living a lie in believing we can put away the filth of our flesh through controlling our tongue.

We cannot! What we can do is receive the life of Christ Jesus as a gift from God, and allow through faith God's good works in us as He builds His righteous temple according to the law of love, and we can continue in faith that he will finish that work in us, why we live humbly in God undeserved kindness towards us by forgiveness our sins.
