Matt. 7:2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.
How important is Christ Jesus statement here? Well, it can mean a life of hell upon this earth or it can mean a life of blessings, it can mean our eternal life! Christ stated that it would be by giving a cup of cold water to his bothers that the sheep would get life. What do we handed Christ Jesus brothers a law book of judgments, or the Royal law of love, Christ gives us?
Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.
The Scribe and Pharisee's believe it to be a sin against God not to uphold the law, but at the same time they could not keep the law, so why were they so harsh with the law? Because they were blinded to the mercy of the law, all they could see was their own earned merit in upholding law, yes! They thought they were earning life by upholding the law, and this is why the fleshly mind cannot know God.
Romans 4:15 For the law works wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.
The law did not produce life, what the law did is condemn every person born of Adam as a sinner, nothing more, hence, it declared God righteous and every human a liar! So how could a person earn merit in enforcing the law on others, when the law condemned them as a sinner? It could not, merit was not earned under the law, it was given from God's mercy too us in innocent blood of animals that was the only merit man had under the law.
Romans 3:27 Where then is the boasting? It is excluded. By what manner of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.
So the Scribes and Pharisee's measured out judgment, and God destroyed their temple and its service based upon their own hateful judgment towards His Son Christ Jesus. Now the question remains, will a person seek mercy or judgment? Would they seek self-righteousness by applying laws of the flesh to others, or the Royal Law of freedom found in Christ Jesus.
James 2:12 So speak, and so do, as men who are to be judged by a law of freedom. 2:13 For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
