Daily Bible Thought > James 4:11 - Judges Law How?

James4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Here then is the context of James's letter; which mind do we possess, the mind of Christ Jesus, or the mind of the flesh? If we have the mind of the flesh, we are dead to Christ, and the law of love. The two do not exist as one, or coexist together. If you have a fleshly mind than you are a judgmental person.

Romans 8:13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

You're making judgments based on merit against your brothers and sisters in the faith. You are making fleshly comparisons about how well you meet the laws, commandments, and/or teachings of your religion, and then comparing your actions against others in your faith. You are judging, saying: "I'm in better standing with God because I try harder". You are judging law as James tells you not to, and Christ commanded us, when he saying: "stop judging!"

Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.

You as a sinner cannot judge by law correctly, why? It is because when we judge by a fleshly mind, and not in the mind of Christ Jesus. Hence, our judgments are corrupt, why? Because the fleshly mind is dead in Christ, he killed it by dying for our sins, substituting, his righteousness, for our unrighteousness. In order to do that, required having God's mind, which is love. Without love, there is no forgiveness of our own deserved sins.

1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The law cannot be kept by sinners, the law only proves them to be unrighteous, as a sinner, the Commandments; all the Commandments, those of the old law, as well as those of the new law, cannot keep by us - being a sinners. Both laws, and commandments required remission of sin through blood of innocent victims. Hence, without blood there is no forgiveness so we cannot standing before God. How can a brother or sister judged by what has been abolished in the blood of Christ for them than judge by laws of death found in the fleshly mind?

Rom. 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.{NU omits "who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit"} 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.
