James 4:16 But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.
Why is James say that you glory in your boasting? Why is boasting in making a living not good in God's eyes? Well, it's pretty simple, did Christ boast in what he did for a living, did Christ say: "I am the greatest carpenter that has ever lived, I traveled here and there and make great money"?
Of course not, how foolish would that have sounded to a spiritual minded people? Not very good it doesn't even sound good to say it, but this is a boast of hand, or foot on the body of Christ. Bragging as though there's something higher on this Earth than being a member of the glorious body of Christ Jesus. The one true Temple of God, where is all Holy Spirit dwells in us.
Such boasting is evil when you put it on that level, it should shame us in giving glory too God rather than ourselves in something we may do in our flesh for a few moments on this Earth. Here then James was elevating the brothers and sisters thinking up to the seat of Christ, humbling them in their fleshly pursuits to realize how far they had fallen into the depths of Satan system of things.
We must be sober, we must think clearly never forgetting what has been paid for us. We must remember that through our lives in Christ Jesus that the entire system of things set up by Satan the devil will be undone to the glorious freedom of the sons of God. Let us than boast in Christ Jesus.
