James 5:12 But above all things, my brothers, don't swear, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath; but let your "yes" be "yes," and your "no," "no;" so that you don't fall into hypocrisy.{TR reads "under judgment" instead of "into hypocrisy"}
Why be judged? Why indeed say, and do what humans cannot do? Would you tell some one that you are not a sinner as a Christian's, no! It is a fact of this life that we are born under sin, and because we are born under sin no amount of being good, or obeying some rule is going to make us not a sinner! So why lie?
Can human make their yes mean yes, and their no mean no? No, they can't! But why? If you are a sinner, than you are a liar you live a lie according to God, because all human are sinners and liars. So how could we guaranteed that our yes, will be yes, and our no, no? We simply cannot. We can speak truth in Christ Jesus stating factually, and truthfulness Christ, yes him as truth, making our yes, yes, and his no, no, but not some human representing Christ as a teacher or lawgiver.
Moreover, this is why so many are mislead since Christ Jesus because they think a Christian's has a rule of law upon them to make their yes, mean yes, and their no, no, but that in and of itself, is a lie. What James is stating here is, if you believe you can make such a statements too others than you have fallen into judgment, which makes you a hypocrite, but why? Because you are a sinner, and you cannot not be a sinner anymore than you and make your yes, mean yes, and no mean no!
Now humble yourselves, knowing you are a sinner accept your limitation as such, and walk in love instead, towards each other in the Christ whom is our truth.
