1Cor. 6:1 Dare any of you, having a matter against his neighbor, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?
When we consider the actions and words of Jesus Christ that the Corinthian Christian claimed to be a part of, Paul's words make perfect sense. Christ let himself be wronged to save us from our sins, he did not expect justice from ungodly courts before His Father, no he rather laid down his life willing giving up all things to save us into his Fathers love.
Matthew 27:42 "He saved others, but he can't save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him.
Mark 8:35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it.
Now we see just the opposite attitude being displayed in the Corinthian congregation they wanted to drag brothers in Christ before ungodly courts of law too get justice, they were not going to let themselves be wrong. Their material things were worth fighting for, what had happen to Christ Jesus life among them. Well, in light of all the letter to the Corinthian's, in their fleshly thinking about worldly wisdom, and teachers it is not surprising these events would occur. The flesh does all it can to declare it own rights, demanding judgment, and payment, for transgression done against its dignity.
Matt.5:39 But I tell you, don't resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also. 5:40 If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also. 5:41 Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. 5:42 Give to him who asks you, and don't turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
However, walking in love does not allow for this type of works of the flesh, again it is well to remember there are no laws of flesh found in the spiritual body of Christ Jesus under the spiritual law of love. These brother and sister were walking under the laws of flesh creating all kinds of worldly problems, while claiming they were Christian's by their teaching of worldly wise teachers. Yes, a little leaven was fermenting the whole lump of Christ, like the thinking within this congregation.
James 4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members? 4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask. 4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures.
