John 4:4 He needed to pass through Samaria. 4:5 So he came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son, Joseph. 4:6 Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from his journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour{noon}. 4:7 A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink." 4:8 For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. 4:9 The Samaritan woman therefore said to him, "How is it that you, being a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)
Often Christian's don't think of Christ Jesus faith, they rather think in terms of him as a superhuman person that just did things because it was right thing to do. However, the truth is Christ Jesus suffered all the fears we do for acting in faith when such faith went against all societal rules.
Heb.5:7 He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear, 5:8 though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered.
The Jews had a closed society they did not freely associate with people not of their faith, because the law required them to be a people separated for God's holiness through the law of Moses. Samaritan's were hated and looked down on by the Jew's and the Samaritan's did not like the Jews. So Christ speaking to a Samaritan's was striking, moreover, Christ speaking to a Samaritan woman was something a Jew would never do!
Here Christ demonstrate the faith of Abraham in breaking all rules of man, that is, of society to please God, and what does this mean? Christ was God's anointed messiah he was led by Spirit of God, this was not a human appointments by chance, no! Christ knew the Spirit in him this was a divine appointment set up by God through his holy angels. Just as Abraham listen to the voice of God in offering up his own son upon the altar, so Christ now did what God wanted him to do without sin, and what was that?
John 5:19 Jesus therefore answered them, "Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.
To speak openly to a woman God had arranged for him to speak too, furthermore, in this divine appoint Christ reveals to the Samaritan's woman whom he was - something he did not do too any other person. Let Christian's learn from this marvelous story how prejudices affects all of us, we may be forbidden by a religions rule to speak to some people, but what does God's Spirit tells us to do? Too worry of the opinions of men, or act in faith, doing the works of God, which produces righteous fruit of the Holy Spirit and will have certain success.
When we as Christian's walk by rule of law, instead of faith we cannot be lead by Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is not of this world or its religious doctrinal teachings founded in some organized religion no matter how righteous those laws make us feel, or righteous by upholding them, let us not forget Abraham broke every rule of man and of God to offer his son upon an altar too God, which is murder if God's own angel had not stop his hand in slaughtering his own son.
John 6:27 Don't work for the food which perishes, but for the food which remains to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For God the Father has sealed him."
