Heb. 10:2 Or else wouldn't they have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins?
Why do human think in real terms that if they obey a rule of law they are a better person less sinful? It is because obeying a rule of law is a work of law for all sinful fallen flesh, it is that simple! The Jew's, and many modern day Christian's believe obeying a rule from the bible and/or their religion makes them better in God's eyes less sinful, so what are we actually saying in thinking this way?
Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.
Well, apostle Paul address this dangerous erroneous thinking here in the book of Hebrews. Which is the law could not cleanse a person from sin, hence, all sin is lawlessness. Subsequently, if we sin, we are lawless, and no matter how hard you tried to obey the law it will not, not make us a non-sinner. The Christian's faith argues the law was completed in Christ Jesus, and they would be right, but they only believe this in theory, and not truth!
1 John 3:4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.
However, out of the same mouth comes both good and bad water which is impossible according to God's word the bible. Than they will judge and argue how keeping a rule and/or doctrine of their faith makes them more righteous than other not keeping them. Calling this line a reasoning a “principle of the law” some how making obeying the principle of the law clean or freeing them from sin. Perhaps not all sin, but more than others.
James 3:9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the image of God. 3:10 Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. 3:11 Does a spring send out from the same opening fresh and bitter water? 3:12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh water.
Sadly, they are wrong in this theory, obeying a law, any law will not take our sins away. It is forgiveness by atonement that comes from God's mercy found in the blood upon the mercy seat of God that atones our sins - removes our sins from God's judgment. For a Jews this seat was abolished in Christ Jesus as God's passover lamb, and for a Christian's if they go back to laws of their flesh, that is, laws for the wicked created to punish sinners, we are found in works of laws and not justified by faith.
Hebrews 10:4 For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.
Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus.
It is only the blood that abolishes our deserved judgment for our being a sinner, which means we cannot keep the law, hence, we must have some one substitute their sinless life for us so we can stand before God right without sin. No matter how good we feel, and/or more righteous in obeying some rule of law, we are still a sinner before God, thus, we are lawless in some area of our life, no matter we live a million years we cannot not make our self not a sinner, we must died, or died in Christ be given a new life, which life is the life of Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
Romans 6:7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
