John.4:27 At this, his disciples came. They marveled that he was speaking with a woman; yet no one said, "What are you looking for?" or, "Why do you speak with her?"
Many marveled at Christ unorthodox conduct in the Jewish community even his own apostles, but why? It is so simple, but so overlooked by fleshly minded Christian's of today! The flesh that is dead in Christ Jesus, is a legal judgmental mind. In order to survive it must put all human conduct into a box, it must read actions of others through a myriad of rules/laws that each persons has developed over a life time to keep from being hurt emotionally or physically by others.
John 8:15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
Moreover, these rules/laws makes a person right in their community, giving them a right to cast out any that are not staying within societies norms. Hence, Christ seemingly broke every rule of the Jewish community religion, he seemed an apostate to the religious leaders of his time. He seemed to disrespect the norms of society, but why?
John 5:30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is righteous; because I don't seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
It is simple, Christ did not walk by flesh, he walked by Holy Spirit that has no judgments of fleshly laws to restrict its conduct. God's Holy Spirit is not controlled by the erroneous self-rightness of being rejected by men. The Holy Spirit is truth, it does not lie, or put on an act like sinful flesh practices each day around people it does not like! So yes, without Spirit the apostles marveled because the could not contain the Christ in an orthodox rule of law. He walked on water, heal the sick, raised the dead, and loved his Father despite all the ugly hate of judgmental legal minded religious leaders of his time, whom did nothing from love but buy prescribed law!
John 7:24 Don't judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we don't faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.
