MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > John 4:30-34 Food For Spirit Persons?

John 4:30 They went out of the city, and were coming to him.
4:31 In the meanwhile, the disciples urged him, saying, "Rabbi, eat." 4:32 But he said to them, "I have food to eat that you don't know about." 4:33 The disciples therefore said one to another, "Has anyone brought him something to eat?" 4:34 Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me, and to accomplish his work.

The fleshly mind has a will that controls it, it can bring its hunger down, and fast if necessary for days, if the person has a strong enough will. But is this what Christ was speaking too here? Let us remember the will of the flesh is not the will of the Spirit, but why? Its pretty simple we have a spirit and the will of the flesh can control it, but it has no power over the Spirit of God, which Christ was being feed by.

2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we don't wage war according to the flesh; 10:4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds,

The flesh is opposed to God's Spirit and it will kill it when ever it can. On the other hand, God's Spirit puts to death the works of the flesh, or its sinful desires. So was Christ being self-righteous here, that is, like our sinful flesh, thinking if it can out do other Christian's in actions it is better? No! Christ Jesus was righteous, the only human that could boast in his own righteousness without sin before God.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

One must always remember we stand before God dead in our flesh, killed in Christ Jesus life. Subsequently, we have two lives in our sinful flesh, the life of Christ Jesus indwelling us, as his body members, feed by Holy Spirit, and the left over vessel of sinful flesh, our tent feed by physical food. The apostles were fleshly not yet anointed and indwell with the life of Christ, the power in their bodies was self-will of the flesh. Hence, they like all fleshly people are always competing with each other, and even the Christ trying to redeem themselves by some good work, or action.

Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you won't fulfill the lust of the flesh.

John 6:63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life

This ignorance is the nature of sinful flesh, one cannot compete with something it cannot possibly know, the Spirit. Christ was not competing nor was he self-righteous in making his statement about feeding his spirit body from His Father YHWH life in him.

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness.

Christ was anointed, born again, his life he speak to here was the life of God indwelling him, and it was feed not by physical food, because the will in him was that of his Fathers, not his fleshly will, but that of the Fathers. Such strengthen comes to the spirit man by food feed by Holy Spirit. Angles do not lust for food, they don't eat physical food being spirit beings. Christ was a spirit being before his Father feed by His life, the food that sustains all spirit life God has created.

Colossians 2:23 Which things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, and humility, and severity to the body; but aren't of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.

Soon Christ disciples would be born again, a new life, a spirit life before God, and their food would become spirit food, from the Father life, sustaining them by he fruit of Holy Spirit, summated in one law - love.

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.
