John 15:12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you.
Much of what religion in general teaches is parroted, words repeated to identify people with certain groups. Once the fleshly mind picks up on these slogan they become so entrenched in a person mind they will reject the truth.
One must remember the evolution of scriptures after Christ and the apostles that men started building massive religious institution(s) using laws, these were educated from the law of their nation, the wording from governmental worldly law. Remembering a person cannot build a religious-governmental-organization by the law of love, it requires powerful laws of the flesh demanding control and power for position.
Subsequently, this has been the success of organized religion in using legal wording in interpreting the meaning of God's word to the exclusion of Christ identifying mark of truth, and love. Furthermore, this is why it is so important not to take one verse out of context in light of a subject, that is, the bible is letters written to a congregation in the Greek writings. Legalism requires examining each world, that is, by legal education, which practices taking a word and making it into a legal argument, but that has nothing to do with the Spirit of Truth found in a letter, or its very intent.
John 15:17 "I command these things to you, that you may love one another.
Such as the word commandment there is a vast different between a governmental authority commanding a person under its power, than Christ Jesus doing so for his body members. Without understanding Christ loves and cherish his own body as a good man does his wife, a person will fall into harsh unloving judgment like a government(s) practice without love. The brain in a person body commands the hand and the foot, but it not a harsh worldly judgment of someone else flesh whereby using the law destroying it if necessary! Hence, with laws created too punish the wicked.
Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:10 Love doesn't harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.
Now without this simple understand a person cannot have faith. It is impossible to have faith in God's love while demanding perfection in a person sinful flesh, the two are in opposition. Faith is trust in God's love, one cannot trust a person demanding perfection out of us, an imperfect creation by laws that only point out our imperfection through legal commandments.
1Tim1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man uses it lawfully, 1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine.
Ephesians 4:16 from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love.
