Luke.13:25 When once the master of the house has risen up, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside, and to knock at the door, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us!' then he will answer and tell you, 'I don't know you or where you come from.' 13:26 Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.' 13:27 He will say, 'I tell you, I don't know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.'
We as a Christian's must understand basic bible teaching to make any sense of Christ words here, so we must ask, what is a worker of iniquity? A worker of iniquity is a work of sin, hence, all sin is lawlessness. Subsequently, some translation of the bible use the word lawlessness therefor. Let us focus on the context and truth of Christ statements. So who was Christ speaking to here? He was speaking not too the Gentiles, nor to Christian's, because most had not been converted to Christianity at this point in history, that was to happen after Christ death, and resurrection into heaven and the outpouring of Holy Spirit which converted these Jews into Christ life, making them a Christian, that is, having the life of Christ indwelling them.
1 John 3:4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.
So the idea a Jewish person was lawless, and/or a sinner when they had the temple of God atoning for their sins was highly offensive talk. Nevertheless, they were sinners, and would remain in their sin if they did not accept Christ Jesus by faith.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, "There is no one righteous; no, not one.
Now that we have the context of Christ Jesus words, the truth goes something like this. Not only was the idea that Jews were sinners, but Christ makes a profound statement, they were also without law, hence, law-less, having no law! How could that be they had thousand's of years of God's righteous laws over them, they were the only God law people on earth?
Romans 7:12 Therefore the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good.
Christ words were apostasy to the ears of these Jews, which soon they would murder Christ for such teachings. What the Jews failed too understand was, Christ would complete the Old Law, fulfilling it with his own righteous life on earth. In other words, Christ alone as a sinless man could be declared righteous by God's righteous law, thus, being given the reward of the law, eternal life. Just as Adam could have obtain too, before sinning.
Now God/YHWH removed the law, these Jews had no where to go for remission of their sins if they did not accept Christ Jesus. Hence, making them without God's law, lawless!
Romans 5:19 For as through the one man's disobedience many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.
