MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > Luke.13:33,34. - Killer of The Prophets!

Luke.13:33 Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the next day, for it can't be that a prophet perish outside of Jerusalem.' 13:34 "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that kills the prophets, and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, like a hen gathers her own brood under her wings, and you refused!

What can a person say about religious blindness? It is perhaps one of the most shocking acts of idolatry ever witnesses by the human race throughout its history! But unbelievably each generation of mankind repeats the same acts of idolatry by elevating a man/woman, and/or religion above the love of God finding themselves doing evil towards other human on this earth.

Luke 6:39 He spoke a parable to them. "Can the blind guide the blind? Won't they both fall into a pit?

What is it about people having the need too be better than others, and when they stumble upon religion consider themselves in an elevated position allowing them to judge, and even destroy peoples lives for a good cause? Here the Jews of Christ time could not conceive of the idea they were wrong in God's eyes, and God would reject them as an evil generation. Now let us not forget that this was the painful history of the Jewish faith where time and again God rejected them as evil, but this generation thought somehow they were clean, and killed Christ, what a blunder!

Proverbs 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but Yahweh weighs the motives.

Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, "I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin?"

This is a very complex subject, but essentially, rather we realize it or not, when people become legalistic in their approach to God they can destroy lives of other, thinking it is righteous. The principle of upholding a law overrides the truth of our own fallen condition allowing a person too executed the law on other without fear of their own destruction. Christ address this issue by parables such as the prodigal son. Where the elder son was a legalistic person, seeing his fathers love, as evil because he forgive the younger son for breaking all the rules of his father household, and still the father rewarded the son upon his return home.

Proverbs 20:6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful man?

Matthew 18:21 Then Peter came and said to him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?"

Matthew 6:15 But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

In fact, his returning home was not even for a good reason, but for want of food and shelter. Now the eldest son hated the younger in his heart, if his father had allowed for it, the older would have killed the younger physically or a least removed him from the family tree.

This is the blindness of rage people feel when seeing their heavenly Father as a legalistic judge. There is no reasoning with such a person they will simply not have it, they are law dogs, and will rip you apart happily if you violate one of their many works of law! As shocking as these statements are they are the simple truth as to why good people whom themselves have been freely forgiven their trespasses can ruin the lives of others. They are blinded by something bigger than their own sins in upholding the law, while not being able to put away the filth of their own flesh by the same judgments.

Mark 11:25 Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions.

Luke 5:21 The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this that speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?"

Matt. 7:5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye. 7:6 "Don't give that which is holy to the dogs, neither throw your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
