MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > Rom.9:6-8. - Promise or Contract?

Rom.9:6 But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel. 9:7 Neither, because they are Abraham's seed, are they all children. But, "In Isaac will your seed be called."{Genesis 21:12} 9:8 That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as a seed.

Why a promise and not a law written into an oath to Israel from God that Israel would become the promise seed of Abraham? Simply put, people whom don't trust each other, that is, impute the worst to their neighbors write up contracts for safety. However, a promise is based upon trust for the person, that is, putting faith in the person words, do you actually understand the difference as a Christian's? Religion has produce many contracts with God, how? By their doctrine saying so much as that if you violate their doctrine/contract with God they will kill you, or at least spiritual throw your name out as wicked.

Matt.5:37 But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes' and your 'No' be 'No.' Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.

1 Corinthians 6:6 But brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers!

A person cannot serve God from a contract, it is pointless, implying God won't keep His word that he is a liar whom must produce a safety net for you in case he violates his promises. Do you as a Christian's think such evil about your heavenly Father that when your religion changes a doctrine it strikes fear into your very heart that God is ever changing light?

2 Corinthians 1:20 For however many are the promises of God, in him is the "Yes." Therefore also through him is the "Amen," to the glory of God through us.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

If so you are serving God by works of law, yes! A contract is law, a violation of the contract is illegal. Subsequently, you have deceived yourselves into serving a legal God by works of law. What is a work of law? Its were you meet the requirements of a contract with God, so a court can uphold your claim against the person/God for not keeping His word, and/or promises too you.

Galatians 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.

Hebrews 6:12 that you won't be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherited the promises.

Now did God's word fail Israel, no! It did not, but God's fulfilling His promises was not to Israel liking. In other words, it violated their contract with God, not God's promise too them by faith, but their illegal contract they drew up for evil thoughts against God. None of us can serve God from law, or works of law, we can put off this decision thinking we are playing its safe, but we are fooled by our own righteousness that lead into death. The apostle Peter learned that it was enough to put faith in the Son of Man, and not thinking in legal terms when walking upon the water. Where is your mind? Is it fleshly implying a legal definition to your serving God, or like Abraham's faith in trusting God's promises?
