MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > John 15:16 - In The Truth?

John 15:16 You didn't choose me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.

The fleshly minded person can have a very one-sided view of their relationship with God and Christ, how they are adding to there good works, but Christ refused to let that presumption slip into the apostles minds by reiterating the thought expressed in the parable above of the true vine of Christ Jesus, and what is that?

Matthew 7:17 Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit.

which was they did not chose Christ neither did they individually make themselves into part of Christ the vine. Subsequently, neither could they produce any fruit for the Kingdom of God outside of the vine, they must stay in Christ to be of God's works upon earth. Now that Christ establishes this point, Christian's must not put faith in a religious organization, a person, place, or thing, because true worship does not exist outside of Christ, and if one does not have the Christ they can produce nothing of God's Kingdom.

Matthew 7:18 A good tree can't produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.

John 15:4 Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can't bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. 15:5 I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

The fatal flaw of false religion is to believe because they promote some truth from the bible they are in the truth. Could the apostles have done a good work if they were not a part of Christ Jesus? In other words, lets say they used Christ words, or the words of the prophets did that mean they were in the truth? No it did not! In the truth is not a religious phase repeated like a parrot. What it means as Christ point out here, it meant being in the true vine, of himself.

Yes, to be in the truth one must be placed in the truth by God's choosing of them not some religious organization upon earth. God's truth, is Christ Jesus, not a bible, or teaching from a religious organization, and that was Christ point here!

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

The Jewish faith thought they had the truth, they did not presumptuous say like many in false religion teach today they were in the truth, no! They were given the truth by God through the prophet Moses in the way of the law. They thought there was life through keeping the law, but they were dead wrong. They like false religion cannot produce any life outside of the true vine of Christ Jesus. Hence, the life was in the world, and shortly the life would be killed by those claiming the truth of God. God would resurrect his Son Christ Jesus making him chief agent of life, responsible for eternal life for all Jew's and Gentile alike.

Acts 8:33 In his humiliation, his judgment was taken away. Who will declare His generation? For his life is taken from the earth."{Isaiah 53:7,8}

Rom.9:15 For he said to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."{Exodus 33:19} 9:16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.
