John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.
Such powerful words by the Son of God, Christ Jesus, although many Christian's since have used Christ words here to judge their enemies as having no excuse for not listening too their preachings this is not the context of Christ Jesus words here. Christ did not preach to the Jews people the law, Christ came to fulfill the law, by his own faith in his Father YHWH.
John 12:47 If anyone listens to my sayings, and doesn't believe, I don't judge him. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Once Christ completed his ministry and was impaled by the Jew's the law was no longer validated by the blood of atonement through animal sacrifices. Hence, those Jews rejecting the Son of God, that is, his completing the old covenant now had sin, why? Simply put, they had no place to go for remission of sin under the old covenant completed by Christ Jesus.
John 12:48 He who rejects me, and doesn't receive my sayings, has one who judges him. The word that I spoke, the same will judge him in the last day.
Romans 2:1 Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.
Their judgment was self-in flicked they no longer could excuse their sins by trying to keep the law, thus, stating their was no other way to God without the law, and atonement for breaking God's laws. The message was not a judgment message as many Christian's believe by Christ it was a fact of Christ completing the old law that caused the judgment of the Jewish faith if they did not accept Christ blood. Simply put, they had no law, without Christ, they were indeed lawless in God's eyes because they had no atonement for sin in keeping a law fulfilled in Christ!
James 4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.
Romans 2:13 For it isn't the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law will be justified.
Romans 3:20 Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
Romans 7:4 Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might bring forth fruit to God.
In other words, it was not about calling down evil upon people to frighten them into obedience to God. It was instead a lawful act upon YHWH part in removing the old law covenant by his Son's faith completing the earthly temple service for a better everlasting solution to mankind problem through the new covenant. What excuse could a Jews have, if God was providing the life of His own sons for remission of sin, and a Jew judgment, removed in fulfilling the law?
Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. 8:3 For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh.
There could be no excuse when a Jews could not be declared righteous under the law without faith in animal blood atoning for their sins temporary year to year. Here Christ came to set them free from the curse of the law, what curse? The judgment of their sins year to year declaring them unfit to keep God's righteous law as a sinner. Now they could be declared righteous by Christ Jesus own righteousness and accepted as a son of God, without sin, provide they put faith in Christ Jesus the passover lamb of God.
Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.
Romans 10:4 For Christ is the fulfillment{or, completion, or end} of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
