MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > Matt.7:22,23. Who Are The Lawless Ones?

Matt.7:22 Many will tell me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, didn't we prophesy in your name, in your name cast out demons, and in your name do many mighty works?' 7:23 Then I will tell them, 'I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity.'

Such powerful words by Christ Jesus when he in came into our world to save us, giving his very life to redeem us as the passover lamb of God. Here Christ states “many” will be denied as workers of lawlessness, that is, iniquity! False religion would have us believe its is up to each of us to save ourselves by works of law so we are not lawless, but is this the jest of Christ words here?

Romans 10:9 that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Actually, no! Jesus was speaking to those under thousand's of years of law, the Jews, but not one of them could prove themselves righteous by the law. It was just the opposite, the blood on the altar of God made them righteous because they as sinner could not keep the law. Hence, they must be atone for by blood. Moreover, we are told by God's word the bible all sin is lawlessness.

Romans 5:10 For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we will be saved by his life.

1 John 3:4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness.

Subsequently, the Jews that rejected the blood of Christ stood condemned before God, just as they would have been under the law without blood. In other words, the law could not cover them as sinners, it was the blood that covered them, so without blood they were without the law. Making them law less, having no law, now doing works without righteousness of Christ or the law made their works without God's acknowledgment.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, "There is no one righteous; no, not one.

Romans 3:25 whom God set forth to be an atoning sacrifice{or, a propitiation}, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of prior sins, in God's forbearance.

Many Christian's make the fatal mistake in condemning others by applying these verses to them not obeying some work of their religions law, but this is not the context. Those in Christ are covered by the blood of Christ, born again from sin into Christ righteousness, their works in Christ under his righteousness are not lawless, but legal, provided they stay within the body of Christ under the new covenant, which law is love.

1John. 3:4 Everyone who sins also commits lawlessness. Sin is lawlessness. 3:5 You know that he was revealed to take away our sins, and in him is no sin. 3:6 Whoever remains in him doesn't sin. Whoever sins hasn't seen him, neither knows him.
