MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > Rom. 12:9 - Love Without Hypocrisy, Abhorring Evil?

Rom.12:9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil. Cling to that which is good.

Love without hypocrisy what does it really mean in context to the apostle Paul's writing here? Moreover, abhorring evil, clinging to what is good? First, Christ is good, because the Father YHWH glorified his Son as good, once for all time for us humans needing redemption from sin, so let us cling to him not a religious organization having both good and evil on its tree.

Heb. 1:3 His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself made purification for our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 1:4 having become so much better than the angels, as he has inherited a more excellent name than they have. 1:5 For to which of the angels did he say at any time, "You are my Son. Today have I become your father?"{Psalm 2:7} and again, "I will be to him a Father, and he will be to me a Son?"{2 Samuel 7:14; 1 Chronicles 17:13} 1:6 Again, when he brings in the firstborn into the world he says, "Let all the angels of God worship him."

The purest form of hypocrisy is applying rules and laws to others that we have been freed from by no goodness of our own. Nothing could be more evil than killing people spiritually by laws created for death while being in the wonderful life freed from death's laws in Christ Jesus. This is the evil we should as appreciative children of God abhor! Furthermore, this in the context of Paul writing here the constant battle between flesh and Spirit where the nature of sin in us wants to condemn and judges others too death by God's righteous laws while we ourselves are freed in Christ by God's grace.

Rom. 7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good. 7:19 For the good which I desire, I don't do; but the evil which I don't desire, that I practice.

Matt. 7:1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged. 7:2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye? 7:4 Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye? 7:5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.

If each member clanged to Christ in such humility the body of Christ on earth would function in love the perfect bond of peace, nothing would be lacking for its members in building one another up in truth and love. But here is Paul's time the nature of the beast, the nature of sin yearning jealousy longed for recognition and power over others in the body of Christ, and how would a person gain what is not gain-able as a slave in the body of Christ?

Rom.13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.

By the guilt of sin that which Christ defeated, where is the power of sin come from? The law! Here than is the hidden motive of those teaching law instead of Christ, manipulation of sins laws for control of others faith using guilt by their legal definition of sin, through laws abolished in Christ.

1Cor. 15:55 "Death, where is your sting? Hades{or, Hell}, where is your victory?"{Hosea 13:14} 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rom.8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.{NU omits "who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit"} 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.
