MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > Matt.7:28,29. - Teaching With Authority?

Matt.7:28 It happened, when Jesus had finished saying these things, that the multitudes were astonished at his teaching,
7:29 for he taught them with authority, and not like the scribes.

What do you think of when thinking of authority? Well, you might think of a person in power to uphold the law of a nation, like a policeman, a judge, or even a politician. You don't have to know the person, nor even like them, but they have authority given too them by their position. But is this the authority those Christ talked to seen in him?

John 8:7 But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, "He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her."

Well, lets remember as Christ had just spoken above, few really got what Christ was teaching, and few were saved out of Israel? This is no small matter, because today more than a few have God's word the bible, and many teach as though they have authority as God's personal representatives because they have been educated to teach the bible. Have you every notice that when people get some knowledge they want to be an authority and teach others? Teaching is a rewarding career and it bring respect, but in today's world everyone is expert having an opinion rather you want to hear it or not, why would we think those having bibles would be any different?

John 8:34 Jesus answered them, "Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.

In Christ Jesus time the scribes and Pharisees were the teachers, what did they teach? The law, and they have the authority to teach it where people lived in fear of their power. But Christ taught by Holy Spirit, that is, from the person who gave the Law, YHWH.

Christ did not speak as someone educated with the law, and given a position because they were in a certain tribe of Israel. But as the Word of God understanding the mind of God whom gave the law through Christ.

John 9:41 Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, 'We see.' Therefore your sin remains.

Matthew 18:21 Then Peter came and said to him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?"

Christ spoke spiritual words unlocking the truth of the law, in God's mercy and love, but Christ also had the authority from God to remove its judgment, by fulfilling it with his righteous life. When we say righteousness, let us not thinking in abstract ideas of blood being just a payment to blot out our sins. The righteousness blood of Christ representative his righteous life, it encompassed his being his love, his moral, his goodness, all the personality of Christ was represented in his blood making it righteous. The righteousness of the law was through animal blood not enough to complete the law of God, removing our judgment under it.

Matthew 12:31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.

The authority of Christ encompass all he was and His Father expressed in his teaching. Soon after Christ Jesus death and resurrection the personality of God would be revealed too his disciples by Holy Spirit, what is God's personality, love. Once again let us not think love weak, without authority, love is the summation of the whole of God's personality, for human love is weak under sin, the power of law is more impressive than love, why? Because love in this world is often times weak with the idea of getting away with something instead of God's love.
Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin."{Psalm 32:1-2}

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 6:2 May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer?

Soon Christ apostles would find the strongest power in the universe, God's love expressed in the outpouring of Holy Spirit, a love that endure all things, hopes all things, and believes all things, just the opposite of those teaching the law, whom believed nothing good about each others, whom studied sin by the laws righteousness which condemn them as sinners. What was their conclusion of law studies. That all men are sinner deserving death that nothing good dwell in mankind but evil thoughts.

Rom.3:10 As it is written, "There is no one righteous; no, not one.
3:11 There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God.
3:12 They have all turned aside. They have together become unprofitable. There is no one who does good, no, not, so much as one."{Psalms 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Ecclesiastes 7:20}
3:13 "Their throat is an open tomb. With their tongues they have used deceit."{Psalm 5:9} "The poison of vipers is under their lips;"{Psalm 140:3}
3:14 "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."{Psalm 10:7}
3:15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood.
3:16 Destruction and misery are in their ways.
3:17 The way of peace, they haven't known."{Isaiah 59:7-8}
3:18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."{Psalm 36:1}
3:19 Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.

1Tim.1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;

But Christ went beyond this negative judgmental attitude, into something out of this world, something called light, away from the thinking of mankind darkness, but this thinking must come down from above, and to have this light one must be declared sinless by God, through the righteous life of Christ Jesus. What person has the power and authority to forgive sins against God's righteous law?

2 Timothy 1:10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.

Certainly, this is the key stone the nation of Israel stumble over, who could forgive those put out of their religion, the only true religion on earth? Who could forgive adulterers, a murders, a sabbath breaker, who could remove their deserved judgment, who could tell a judgmental nation rightly judging by God's righteous law to stop judging? Who could have such authority?

Luke 23:34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing." Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots.

1Cor.13:8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with.
13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; 13:10 but when that which is complete has come, then that which is partial will be done away with. 13:11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child. Now that I have become a man, I have put away childish things.
