Matt.18:1 In that hour the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who then is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?" 18:2 Jesus called a little child to himself, and set him in the midst of them, 18:3 and said, "Most certainly I tell you, unless you turn, and become as little children, you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
What is a legal mind? Well, we all have one, it is created from sin, past on too us by Adam, we set up rules and laws to protect ourselves from hurt, from being taken advantage of, to keep ourselves from repeating foolish mistake, hurting ourselves, and others. But few of us think its a fleshly mind also? In fact, this thought offends some. The fleshly mind judges against other flesh because must protects itself from people that might hurt and destroy it, so all thoughts of this legal mind are bounced off other flesh, but not the Spirit of God.
John 8:15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
1Cor.4:2 Here, moreover, it is required of stewards, that they be found faithful. 4:3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by man's judgment. Yes, I don't judge my own self. 4:4 For I know nothing against myself. Yet I am not justified by this, but he who judges me is the Lord. 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each man will get his praise from God.
As we grow older, our judgments affects our spirit, it does not free our spirit as some imagine, we become less trusting more judgmental, and the things of the spirit like love is qualified by our rules and laws of our fleshly mind more and more. This works will for the world, which is an expect standard we all must live by. But here Christ literally shocks his disciples who were born and raised in possibly the most judgmental race of people on earth, the Jews whom had been under God's righteous laws for thousand's of years.
Luke 6:37 Don't judge, and you won't be judged. Don't condemn, and you won't be condemned. Set free, and you will be set free.
John 8:32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."{Psalm 119:45}
John 8:36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
How does one take an aged tree set and harden by thousand's of years of judgment making it into a suppl young branch? This is the dichotomy Jew's and Christian's alike fail to understand, you don't, it must be cut down, uprooted and thrown into the fire, its not reformable its set hard in its ways like spots on a leopard that can't be changed, the outer wood effects the very spirit of the tree. But in context of Christ words here, a new tree would be planted, with a new spirit, and new heart, a new person, a new law from a child like Spirit of God through Christ Jesus the lamb of God. It would not reform the old person under the law of God like these disciples, it would kill the very flesh that had harden their heart in judgments, freeing their own spirit, into the life of Christ Jesus. The question was, not a legal one, of whom could make themselves into a child like spirit, no! It was instead, when given the free gift of God's love from a non-judgment heart of Christ, would they maintain it into the Kingdom of the heavens?
Isaiah 11:1 A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.
John 15:1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the farmer. 15:2 Every branch in me that doesn't bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 15:3 You are already pruned clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 15:4 Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can't bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.
Here the legal the mind of flesh wrangles in just how its going to make itself new? How indeed is it going to take what not one Jews could do in thousand's of years under the law, which is, bring it into Christianity and making themselves a child by legal judgment of God's laws? We must compare ourselves against spirit things, spirit against Spirit, and not the other way around. The Spirit does not think of predigest position of power in being a king, a ruler, it rather serves from love, love is king in God's Kingdom! The spirit of child loves not by sight, for position, but for love the of their parents own love towards them.
1 Corinthians 16:22 If any man doesn't love the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be accursed{Greek: anathema.}. Come, Lord!{Aramaic: Maranatha!}
2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brothers, rejoice. Be perfected, be comforted, be of the same mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.
