John 3:31 He who comes from above is above all. He who is from the Earth belongs to the Earth, and speaks of the Earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. 3:32 What he has seen and heard, of that he testifies; and no one receives his witness. 3:33 He who has received his witness has set his seal to this, that God is true.
Do you understand the nature of our fallen flesh? This is not insult but the first step in coming to God. When one looks to creation and see a animal acting in a certain pattern they marvel at God's wisdom manifested in the animal, they are not offended by its nature. But when talking of our fleshly mind we fast become offended with God reveals how unlike his mind is too ours. The fleshly mind under sins believes without a moment of doubt it can know God by knowledge, it needs nothing more than education, and effort to know God, and because its gets some of God's nature correct it than imputes its own feelings into God, for it must be, the fleshly mind knows nothing but the thoughts of it flesh, as natural.
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Colossians 2:23 Which things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, and humility, and severity to the body; but aren't of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
But God's way are not at all mankind's ways, His thinking it 180-degrees opposed to our fleshly minds darkness. Because even an animal can read mankind's actions to please them for reward of affection, and food it does not mean they can read our minds as some believe. God knowing this, sent us a Son from above, to teach us things from above by Spirit, which is truth, the Spirit is not hampered by the desire of the sinful flesh so it changes like shadows of light under a tree as the Sun passes overhead. No! We must humble ourselves and receive all things of God from above, but how?
Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.
Romans 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.
Simply put, by undeserved kindness, by the gift of God's love, through a new birth from flesh into Spirit where God's mind can be known by Spirit in Jesus Christ. Christ was not insulting anyone as the fleshly mind thinks here, he was stating a truth that sinful flesh cannot receive the witnesses of God, because it cannot commune with God in His own nature because of the flesh sinful condition. Thus, none of us can save ourselves or have a understanding of God without his love given us by sheer undeserved kindness.
Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.
1 John 4:6 We are of God. He who knows God listens to us. He who is not of God doesn't listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
1 John 5:6 This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
