MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > Luke 9:59. Go and Bury my Father?

Luke 9:59 He said to another, "Follow me!" But he said, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father."

How can we follow Christ by flesh? That's a good question when we are told we must walk by Spirit and not our flesh. Christ was raised in spirit being made alive by God incorruptible life. He is not here on earth but in heavens, a new heavens where his righteousness dwells for Christian's. His own flesh is dead to this world, it was buried for mankind sins. We know him no more by flesh, but Spirit as we Christian's know no human being by flesh but spirit.

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down out of heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. Yes, the bread which I will give for the life of the world is my flesh."

John 6:56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives in me, and I in him.

1 Peter 3:18 Because Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God; being put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;

What does all this have to do with burying the dead? Well, everything if you believe Christ words. Those of the flesh bury their dead, but those in Christ flesh has been buried in Christ own death, they do not deal with death, but life. In other words, if a person is dead to Christ they have no eternal life, until they become alive “in Christ” through the imperishable life, which has no death in it. Yes, Christ conquered death, defeating it with his own death. Christ no longer deals with death judgments, because he freed himself and those in Christ from those judgments.

Matthew 22:32 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?'{Exodus 3:6} God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

Rev.1:18 and the Living one. I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. I have the keys of Death and of Hades{or, Hell}.

Many tie their physical death being buried in the ground with life in paradise or heaven. But those born anew from the flesh have received the life of Christ Jesus, which is eternal, hence, they have received eternal life through the life of Christ indwelling them. Moreover, they have been raise into the new heavens where Christ is seated. They have been raised in Christ, they live in a mere tent, a vessel as it were a shell which is dead to God and its judgment, but in spirit made alive by Christ own life. Life is not found in old wineskins, life is not found in the fading beauty of our bodies, life is not found in corruption of flesh returning to the dust from which came.

John 20:31 but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.

Our life is found in Christ Jesus, we must follow him, not by words alone written in our bibles, but Spirit in truth, because Christ is the truth of God, and we can only enter in to Christ by Holy Spirit being born anew from the sinful flesh into life. This is not about emotion as deep as they are affected by the death of a love one, its about where truth founded by God's laws. Yes, laws applied impartially without emotions inserted, for where our emotions are inserted law cannot be impartial. One must always trust God is love, love is always good, it does not act from emotion, but truth, and than mercy coming from God goodness. Those born anew must focus on the living imperishable life of Christ knowing by Holy Spirit he has defeated death, and the Good News is about life, and not judgment of our flesh.

Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.
