Rom.4:13 For the promise to Abraham and to his seed that he should be heir of the world wasn't through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
What was the laws righteousness, was it man? Was its man's works of righteousness that made the law righteous, or was it the blood of innocent victims shed for sins that made a person righteous before God. Could the law make a man righteous without blood, could the law remove the sins of our flesh by keeping it?
1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
Galatians 2:21 I don't make void the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Christ died for nothing!"
Here is the confusion for many Christian's unwittingly they believe as the Jews it was their own efforts that made them clean/righteous, but was it? No! The law was righteous mankind was not, the law was good without sin, the law was life and spiritual, but mankind could not keep it without redemption from their sins against the law. Actually the process was simple, but the hearts of mankind is not sold under sin.
Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who doesn't continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."{Deuteronomy 27:26}
Galatians 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could make alive, most certainly righteousness would have been of the law.
Once a sinner always a sinner unless God forgives us our sin, and/or we die. It was not the law that made the Jew's righteous by performing certain acts of law, it was God forgiveness, that is, his mercy in atonement. Here than is what a Jew must do, they must be honest a lover of truth and righteousness knowing they could never meet the perfection of the law by self-efforts alone they must be purchased by God's mercy putting faith in what? God mercy which was the blood. They must still be made righteous by faith in God undeserved kindness. Now many at Paul's time and ours forget that they cannot put away the filth of their flesh, which is, inherited sins, and sometimes deliberated sins by acts of self-righteousness through some work of a religion, they must do as all people of faith have done, put their faith in God's love, found in his Son Christ Jesus.
Galatians 5:4 You are alienated from Christ, you who desire to be justified by the law. You have fallen away from grace.
Ephesians 2:15 having abolished in the flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace.
1 Timothy 1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
The desire is there for those loving God, but the ability is not there to be perfect without sin. Many wrongly concluded that faith alone is not enough that without strong fleshly measures a person will uses their flesh for loose conduct. But the truth actually is, no one born of God wants to practice sin, they simply want too please God, but often fail because of sin. Those loving the practice of sin are not of our Father of His righteousness.
Hebrews 7:16 who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:
Hebrews 9:22 According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.
James 2:8 However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself,"{Leviticus 19:18} you do well.
