Is there a devil? There are many that think not, he is just made up person that people talk about when not wanting to take responsibility, but Peter here says he is a real an enemy that seeks to devour us as Christian's. The world of the flesh must see to believe, however, those anointed and walking by Spirit understand the issue is one of spirits affecting the flesh, controlling, and manipulating mankind, not the other way around. Humans do not control spirit person they can and often are control by wicked spirit being.

Rev.20:1 I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 20:2 He seized the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole inhabited earth, and bound him for a thousand years.
2Cor.4:4 in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them.

The human race is like a sea of wickedness always churning up badness having no peace, why? Because behind the seen are a host of rebellious son's of God that have different levels of power and authority, to where the apostle Paul said our fight is not with flesh, that is, humans, but wicked spirit son's in heavenly position and governments. But why are these wicked spirit son's fighting against Christian's? It is very simple, they are part of the seed planted in the Garden of Eden by God to destroy Satan world. Yes, there is but one seed not many in Christ, each person in Christ is the seed of Christ as a body member of one body, not many, one administration of Christ and body members that will break up all the works of the devil.

Romans 9:8 That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as a seed.

Galatians 3:16 Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He doesn't say, "To seeds," as of many, but as of one, "To your seed,"{Genesis 12:7; 13:15; 24:7} which is Christ.

Gen.3:14 And Jehovah God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, cursed art thou above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 3:15 and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

When Christian's fight with flesh, they are walking in the flesh, but when they walk by faith and understand the rebellious spirits behind the evil of the flesh they put on the complete suit of armor given them by God in faith a fruit of God's Spirit. All those lead by Spirit and apart of Christ seed, will be persecuted so where Peter could say under Holy Spirit that all our brothers in Christ suffer the same treatment. This world and how it operates is by the mind of rebellious son's of God affecting the thinking of mankind, it can't and never will make sense to God's seed in Christ. It will never work for them because flesh is against the Spirit. Without understanding this one simple truth a person will be devour by devil.

2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we don't wage war according to the flesh; 10:4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds.

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.

We are given freely the wisdom of God from above to protect and know how to act and react to this roaring lion, God will not leave us or lose us to wicked spirit son's because they have been defeat when Christ was raised from the dead. Are they angry? Yes they are, would they like to devour us yes they would! Can we be lost, and God's love fail us, no! We have the Christ indwelling us, the living eternal life of the Son of God, nothing can touch that life and we are apart of his seed, have faith.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

Ephesians 6:16 above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

Rom.8:36 Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter."{Psalm 44:22}
8:37 No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
