John 8:24 I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am he, you will die in your sins."

From earliest times men of God have acknowledged their sins by atoning for them by gifts to God, the greatest being innocent blood of a victim, usually an animal that was not created to live by God's moral laws. Hence, to die in one sins is a serious matter particularly for a Jew, but why?

Gen.4:3 As time passed, it happened that Cain brought an offering to Yahweh from the fruit of the ground. 4:4 Abel also brought some of the firstborn of his flock and of its fat. Yahweh respected Abel and his offering, 4:5 but he didn't respect Cain and his offering. Cain was very angry, and the expression on his face fell.

The Jewish faith was a righteous faith based upon the foundation stone of atonement for sin, the law, the tent of meeting, and the people were cleansed by blood of innocent animal victims. In other words, how could Christ tell them they would die in their sins? They were a holy people, God's people, they were a chosen nation for God's YHWH own glory, who was this Christ?

Hebrews 9:13 For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify to the cleanness of the flesh:
Hebrews 9:19 For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of the calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people,

Hebrews 9:20 saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God has commanded you."{Exodus 24:8}

Hebrews 9:21 Moreover he sprinkled the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry in like manner with the blood.

Hebrews 9:22 According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.

Religion blinds one to the truth, religion is formed by men walking by sight and power, it changes the thinking of good people into pleasing other humans over seeking God. Here the Jewish faith set up by God had become a religion blinding them to the truth of atonement the very things the law should have lead God's people to, the truth Christ Jesus.

John 8:41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We are not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.

John 8:48 Then the Jews answered him, "Don't we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?" 8:49 Jesus answered, "I don't have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
8:50 But I don't seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.

Christ had to come from God, where was a man born on earth that did not have the sins of Adam? Rather a person believes this or not, all humans are dying from sin, case closed! Christ had just informed his listener that he had came from the Father. In other words, not of this world because there needed to be a sinless victim, a human to redeem once for all times those putting faith in God. Now if religion was more important than worshiping God, then factually, and truthfully those Jews would die in their sins. Not because they were speaking out against Christ, but because they had no faith in God's perfect gift of atonement, the lamb of God, Christ Jesus. Christ was not making a mean judgments, he stated the facts, if one does not have God's atonement they will die in their sins. Although, the Jew went to the altar of God and shed innocent blood of animal it was not acceptable to God any longer - once he had gave us his precious son life!

John 1:29 The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
