John 8:36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
Freedom! What price humans have paid for freedom in treasures of blood, and tears? How many have died, endured in privation to gain freedom from oppression? Mankind's fight for freedom never ends, from birth to death people struggle for a moment of freedom from want, poverty, hate, oppression, hunger, the list is truly endless. Each battle is proof of one thing we are all born into slavery in some form on some level.
Rom.5:12 Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; and so death passed to all men, because all sinned.
Here Jesus tells the Jew the truth of their condition, but pride of religion would not allow them to be honest. They were God's people how could they not have freedom? Many countries have uses the word freedom over the history of man to enslaved million into oppressive government. Many religion have done the same offering others freedom will themselves enslaved to the laws of the flesh creating a nightmarish oppression of harsh rules and judgments for their membership.
2 Peter 2:18 For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who are indeed escaping from those who live in error;
Obviously human thinks in term of relative freedom, and not the freedom Christ was speaking about here. Freedom from what? Freedom from that which enslaved mankind since Adam sinned. Yes, sin! Sin that causes corruption into death, and into all that enslaves mankind by self-rule. Humans are imprisoned in death from sin, and what do they do? They paint and decorated the prison cell of death, and than blindly call it freedom!
Hebrews 2:14 Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same, that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
Hebrews 2:15 and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Rom.8:19 For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 8:20 For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 8:21 that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.
But how could they be free from this prison, not by rhetoric, or politics, nor religion, not by defending some truth from their bible, Christ must set them free, and if he set them free they were indeed free of sin and death. But how can that be Christian's die, they still sin, and have health problems like all others.
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies.
John 12:25 He who loves his life will lose it. He who hates his life in this world will keep it to eternal life.
John 5:24 "Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn't come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.
Here we have defined the problem of relative freedom found in all of Satan world, which misses the real life. The judgment of mankind was handed down in the Garden of Eden, the conviction was sin, and the penalty death. None can be freed of this sentence without dying, death is the payment paid for sin. But God has made a loving way out into freedom of a new life in paradise with him. But he is not dealing with our sinful flesh, as though decorating the prison cell calling it freedom. The sentence on the sinful flesh is not reversible, it will not be changed - all have died since Adam.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 6:63 It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life.
Christ gave us a new life, a new Adam, a new father, so what is new about Christ? He is sinless. Those given the gift of Christ life are accounted sinless freed from the judgment of flesh. They are free from that which has enslaved the human race, and what is that? All things created from people under relative freedom, its laws, its religions, its governments, it rules that promote more of the same yeast and death and corruption with it. They have life!
Galatians 5:9 A little yeast grows through the whole lump.
Matthew 13:33 He spoke another parable to them. "The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast, which a woman took, and hid in three measures{literally, three sata. 3 sata is about 39 litres or a bit more than a bushel} of meal, until it was all leavened."
Matthew 16:6 Jesus said to them, "Take heed and beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees."
Rom. 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God. 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his. 8:10 If Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 8:11 But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Why? Because they are born again by Holy Spirit, they are not fleshly children of God, they are free as spirit son's of God, whom worship in Spirit and truth. Yes, Christ is the “truth”, he can set a person free, being he is the “truth” and in Spirit, free from the corruption of the flesh, and its judgment, into freedom of the law of love. This freedom is not sought by mankind for the most part, few find it, it is a very narrow road. Most stop at relative freedom for a few short years here upon earth, painting the old cell, with new ideas calling it the freedom only to die in their sin.
1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.
1 Peter 1:23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of God, which lives and remains forever.
Galatians 4:29 But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.
