2Pet.2:4 For if God didn't spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus{Tartarus is another name for Hell}, and committed them to pits of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 2:5 and didn't spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly;
2:6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly; 2:7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was very distressed by the lustful life of the wicked
2:8 (for that righteous man dwelling among them, was tormented in his righteous soul from day to day with seeing and hearing lawless deeds):
Here the apostle Peter shock those he was writing to, back into reality, but why must he under Holy Spirit? God is love, and these brothers and sister were under his undeserved kindness, had they forgotten the truth that God has always dealt with unrighteousness throughout the history of mankind?
Heb.1:8 But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your Kingdom.
1:9 You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows."{Psalm 45:6-7} 1:10 And, "You, Lord, in the beginning, laid the foundation of the earth. The heavens are the works of your hands. 1:11 They will perish, but you continue. They all will grow old like a garment does.
The apostle Peter starts this portion of his letter regarding false teachers than he draws a very strong conclusion for us in their not so innocent teaching to gross sin that God dealt with in the past. But why did he make this parallel, when so often false teacher with the bible are very hard on sins of the flesh in controlling others with harsh rules and law making themselves a police force over their congregation?
Philippians 3:2 Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision.
Matthew 7:6 "Don't give that which is holy to the dogs, neither throw your pearls before the pigs, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
Sadly, many Christian's miss this point that when people condone flesh in exploiting others with words of this world to gain control
over them and/or to become important having their opinion promoted before God's; their follower whom are overcome by them enslave themselves into the flesh and not God's Spirit. Subsequently, with that comes the planting of the flesh and one will reap the corruption from their flesh in the acts Peter speaks to here in condoning human sinful actions by human wisdom of this world.
1Cor. 1:11 For it has been reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those who are from Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you.
1:12 Now I mean this, that each one of you says, "I follow Paul," "I follow Apollos," "I follow Cephas," and, "I follow Christ."
1:13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul? 1:14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius, 1:15 so that no one should say that I had baptized you into my own name. 1:16 (I also baptized the household of Stephanas; besides them, I don't know whether I baptized any other.) 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the Good News--not in wisdom of words, so that the cross of Christ wouldn't be made void. 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to us who are saved it is the power of God. 1:19 For it is written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, I will bring the discernment of the discerning to nothing."{Isaiah 29:14} 1:20 Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the lawyer of this world? Hasn't God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 1:21 For seeing that in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom didn't know God, it was God's good pleasure through the foolishness of the preaching to save those who believe. 1:22 For Jews ask for signs, Greeks seek after wisdom,
1:23 but we preach Christ crucified; a stumbling block to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks, 1:24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1:26 For you see your calling, brothers, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, and not many noble; 1:27 but God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise. God chose the weak things of the world, that he might put to shame the things that are strong; 1:28 and God chose the lowly things of the world, and the things that are despised, and the things that are not, that he might bring to nothing the things that are: 1:29 that no flesh should boast before God. 1:30 But of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption: 1:31 that, according as it is written, "He who boasts, let him boast in the Lord."{Jeremiah 9:24}
Here is the sobering facts, many were being overcome by false teachers subverting their trust in God, into trusting man, over God's words, over the Holy Spirit that indwelt them by Christ life. Soon the Christian's congregation would be polluted on every level into the corruption of the world. Great ones would be held up in powerful position, laws and rules would be enforced to support institutions of religion, names would be given to the leaders of the faith and made into idols of holiness. From that would come false religion, where holy words would be used to condone the filth of their subject flesh. Soon there would be no difference than government and religion, both would intermingle with each other to promote the power of both.
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 13:33 He spoke another parable to them. "The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast, which a woman took, and hid in three measures{literally, three sata. 3 sata is about 39 litres or a bit more than a bushel} of meal, until it was all leavened."
These brothers and sister must understand, God does not consort with some good in mankind after destroying the ungodly and imprison even angles, he is not going to take the sins of human digging through good and bad of mankind to build yet one more government based upon mankind saving themselves.
1 Corinthians 5:6 Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump?
Two thousand years have passed since Peter writing here, mankind has taken God's words and built many governments and religion out of its wisdom and yet it has not produce one person that could save this world from sin, death and its corruption. Lets say that one more time two thousands years of mankind using God's Holy word and they have not produced one righteous kingdom, or government. All are plagued with the same corruption introduce into the human race by Adam and Eve, sin and rebellion against God's Kingdom. These brothers and sisters must not be fooled with boldness rudeness in the flesh as coming from God, they must not think they can deliver themselves by the goodness of some teachers or false prophet no matter how much they uses God's word the bible.
Jude 1:16 These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaks proud things), showing respect of persons to gain advantage. 1:17 But you, beloved, remember the words which have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1:18 They said to you that "In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts." 1:19 These are they who cause divisions, and are sensual, not having the Spirit.
1:20 But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. 1:21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.
They must be delivered by God from their sins into a new personality, a new heart, and new heavens. and earth, by whom, mankind goodness or God's? No! They have been given a new personality, for what reason, do you understand? Because sin is engraved as part of our old personality, it is part of us from birth. God is not removing sin from our old personality. He kills our old man and gives us a new man conforming us to Christ personality, why? Because Christ is the head of these brothers and sisters as body parts, implying it is his personality they posses not their own . They are a part of what God is making new, as first fruits taken from mankind to set creation free from what the corruption of sin found in our old personality dead in Christ.
Romans 6:6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
Colossians 3:9 Don't lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings,
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
Ephesians 4:24 and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.
Revelation 21:5 He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." He said, "Write, for these words of God are faithful and true."
Revelation 21:1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more.
