Daily Bible Thought > Matt.5:21,22 - Everyone who is angry with his brother?
Matt.5:21 "You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, 'You shall not murder;'{Exodus 20:13} and 'Whoever shall murder shall be in danger of the judgment.' 5:22 But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause{NU omits "without a cause".} shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever shall say to his brother, 'Raca{"Raca" is an Aramaic insult, related to the word for "empty" and conveying the idea of empty-headedness.}!' shall be in danger of the council; and whoever shall say, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of the fire of Gehenna.{or, Hell}
What cause anger in us? It is when we try to control something that is out of our control, this frustration of trying to make a person do something they don't want to do causes us anger. What is the tool all humans use to control the action of others? Rules, laws, when one violates a law we loose control of their proper conduct to associate with us, we are unprotected from their abuses. Subsequently, we lash back with anger for their flagrant violation of a rule or law we believe to be important.
James 1:19 So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; 1:20 for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God. 1:21 Therefore, putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with humility the implanted word, which is able to save your souls{or, preserve your life.}.
The violation becomes personal a disrespect for us. But what happen when a person violates one of God's laws, and/or bible principles? Many justify their anger stating it is righteous holy anger from God because the person has broken God's law.
Each Christian's is faced with this test often in life, mixing their emotions as if it is God's anger from their own hearts. Here is what Christ dealt with in his day, although, some have made an attempt to temper Christ words by adding the words (without cause) just as attorney's do to protect themselves from their real motives so inwardly they can destroy a person for violating a law while protecting themselves with a legal clause. But such unrighteousness in not with God, one cannot hid evil behind a legal clause to excuse evil in their hearts towards a brother.
Ezekiel 11:21 But as for them whose heart walks after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their way on their own heads, says the Lord Yahweh.
Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Unfortunately, most Christian's in religion miss the whole point of Christ words here, which is we are sinner, and we can't live up to the perfect example of God's law. If we are honest within our own hearts, not looking at the sin in our brothers eye we know how many times we are angry at others. We are sinner, we need constant forgiveness. Here Christ dealt with hypocrites whom happily hated their brother in their hearts, and justified it behind God's laws.
Psalms 36:2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes, too much to detect and hate his sin.
James 4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members? 4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask. 4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures.
They had no need of repentance or fear that they weren't doing things correctly because they felt themselves righteous a lover of God's law. But actually when judged against God's law they were sinner because their hearts were corrupted with sins although not acted upon their evil physically. Christ than listed a number of other evils in their hearts in the same chapter below that the religious group of the Jews did not physically act upon, but inwardly practiced, which condemn them as not righteous at all in God's judgment of them. They were partial judging only the outward not the inward which exposed their own unrighteousness equally.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, "There is no one righteous; no, not one.
They were just as the apostle Paul said all sinner, all turn away from God, in their heart full of evil things for each other and God, they lied because they knew the truth of their own hearts, but hid it from others in looking good in their flesh. They were not above other men without God's law, they were the same, but because of the law they hid it from others, so why were they so incense at a brothers sin as though he was worthless, and they themselves were not? Because their hearts were evil full of hate and judgment for the splinter in their brothers eye to justify their lack of love for God forgiveness and their own brothers.
Matt.3:11 There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God. 3:12 They have all turned aside. They have together become unprofitable. There is no one who does good, no, not, so much as one."{Psalms 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Ecclesiastes 7:20} 3:13 "Their throat is an open tomb. With their tongues they have used deceit."{Psalm 5:9} "The poison of vipers is under their lips;"{Psalm 140:3} 3:14 "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."{Psalm 10:7} 3:15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood. 3:16 Destruction and misery are in their ways. 3:17 The way of peace, they haven't known."{Isaiah 59:7-8} 3:18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."{Psalm 36:1} 3:19 Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God.
How angry? So angry they would murder him if the law allowed for such murder. Yes, this is the way of unrighteous people, sinner they judge unrighteously they are not impartial so they have no right to judge, but they do, because they are sinner taking that right as a god, in determining who shall live or die in their hearts, they have no fear of God, and when given God's word the bible they use it as an unrighteous tool to kill others by their words or deeds.
Luke 6:45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.
Mark 7:6 He answered them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, 'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Mark 7:18 He said to them, "Are you thus without understanding also? Don't you perceive that whatever goes into the man from outside can't defile him, 7:19 because it doesn't go into his heart, but into his stomach, then into the latrine, thus making all foods clean?" 7:20 He said, "That which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man. 7:21 For from within, out of the hearts of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, sexual sins, murders, thefts, 7:22 covetings, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, and foolishness. 7:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man."
Shocking! It should not be unless we are deceived about the truth in your own heart thinking our good feeling are better than others sinners, thinking that we judge fairly like God. No we don't the law proved that, and Christ proved that, and God proved it by giving us atonement because we are sinner not righteous or even fair by comparison to God Kingship over us.
John 7:24 Don't judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
Romans 2:1 Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.
