MAIN TALK UNDERSTANDING GOD THE SCRIPTURES

Daily Bible Thought > 2Pet.3:8-9 - Thousand years as one day?

2Pet.3:8 But don't forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 3:9 The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

There is an old saying that people worry about 99.9% of the things that's out of their control than the 1% of the things they can actually changes! It is true a statement of human nature under sin, people would rather worry about building a lasting name by some great work than feeding the children dying today in our world. Christian's would rather worry about when the end of the world will come, by researching some prophecy than actually living as a Christ like person, and treating their neighbor in love!

Matthew 25:45 "Then he will answer them, saying, 'Most certainly I tell you, inasmuch as you didn't do it to one of the least of these, you didn't do it to me.'

Christ said why be anxious, why worry about these things when we can't even do the least? Yet, as Solomon said our life is vanity, most of it used up in chasing the wind making it in vain! We can hardly direct our steps day to day, within short time frame, a few hours, let alone a thousand's years. However, man's vanity worries about the Sun Burning out in billions of years from now. There are people building million dollars home for a lasting legacy, so they will be remember, forgetting within less than a hundred years unless you do research most homes on their own block no one knows whom owns them, let alone who built them?

Luke 12:26 If then you aren't able to do even the least things, why are you anxious about the rest?

John 7:24 Don't judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."

Each generation of mankind are in vain believing everything must happen in their life time upon earth, and they are right, because they can't control the next generation, or even what will happen in a mere hundred years after they are gone! Sadly, reality is, they can't even control this life. It should be of no surprise to Christian's that each generation since Christ thought they were the ones, the ones that would see Christ coming, but not one person for two thousand's years has predicted when correctly? Shocking! Well it should not be! But such failures will not effect the next generation, they will do the same, and will call down evil upon those not going along with their end-time predictions instead of accounting themselves blessed in Christ not coming which has allowed them time on earth to come to know the love of God through the salvation found in Jesus Christ. Yes, how willing we are to have God destroy the entire world so we can be right in Christ coming, how arrogant? Yet, human worry about building a million dollar vacation home, when most of our world lives in poverty, but this is the nature of human's under sin.

Rom.2:1 Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things. 2:2 We know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 2:3 Do you think this, O man who judges those who practice such things, and do the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of his goodness, forbearance, and patience, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 2:5 But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God; 2:6 who "will pay back to everyone according to their works:"{Psalm 62:12; Proverbs 24:12}

Christ made a point a person cannot get good fruit off a bad tree, and its is impossible that a person can make a bad tree produce good fruit. Most Christian's have no idea of what Christ was speaking about because the tree mankind eats off of has two types of fruit, the really good things humans do for each others, and the really selfish thing we do too each others like building our life for some material thing, while letting children die for lack of some medicine. But let each of us sober up! Although, mankind is running things now, when Christ comes, and he will, there will be no more selfishness, for Christ only has but one kinda fruit on his tree of eternal life, and that is good fruit. Hopefully, we will come to appreciate God's has been very patient in our repenting from our selfishness!

James 4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge. 4:12 Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another? 4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow let's go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit." 4:14 Whereas you don't know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.
4:15 For you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that." 4:16 But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.
