1Thess.5:5 You are all children of light, and children of the day. We don't belong to the night, nor to darkness, 5:6 so then let's not sleep, as the rest do, but let's watch and be sober.
There is a natural cycle for human life, we must sleep to live, but what of the life of Christ whom now exist as immortal, and incorruptible life, does his cycle of life require physical sleep for him to maintain life?
2 Corinthians 5:16 Therefore we know no one after the flesh from now on. Even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know him so no more.
Subsequently, the apostle Paul cannot be speaking of our life in the physical sense which requiring us to follow the cycle of life, but rather something beyond our personal abilities, into the life of Christ which is not from the power of our flesh.
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we don't wage war according to the flesh;
Many well meaning Christian's read here Paul's words and honestly believe the revelation of truth, that is, about the end of our world depend upon their person abilities to stay awake, find the truth through various means of research than be responsible in distributing that information to our world so it will not perish at the coming of our Lord.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
Yet here we find Paul stating a simple truth that none of us can do in our flesh, which is, we must stay awake at all times, never sleeping, as the cycle of life requires we must, or die! Here is a fundamental mistake we all make. When one of the apostles writes about our relationship with each other, and Christ they start with a fundamental truth which must be carried through from start to finish in the Greek scriptures, and if we don't we become light and darkness swing small and wide in our flesh, which is like a shadow under a tree when the Sun pass over head, always changing from minute to minute.
Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, that you may not do the things that you desire.
So what is that core fundamental truth? We did not born again ourselves, we were beyond human hope of that ever happening by our personal will or abilities. Hence, we were asks from day one of becoming a born again Christian's to walk upon water at the command of another, not of ourselves. Subsequently, that is Paul's premise, and every other person writing in the Greek scriptures. In other words, because a person is born again, by an act of God, and not man why would any Christian think at any point they can put themselves into the light, or distribute the light by self-well, self-revelation to others, or it depends upon them to do a physical act within a spirit body to stay in the light or truth?
Ephesians 6:12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Colossians 2:23 Which things indeed appear like wisdom in self-imposed worship, and humility, and severity to the body; but aren't of any value against the indulgence of the flesh.
1 Peter 3:21 This is a symbol of baptism, which now saves you--not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This is the power Christ stripped from all flesh do you understand this fundamental teaching of your bible. Christ stripped all judgments of the fleshed power away from Satan to control his body members in his dying for our sins. We are not held captive to flesh any longer that means its rules, laws, by its fleshly judgments, or anything upon this earth. We need not its tools to be in the light, because we haven't put ourselves in the light by the will of our flesh, or by the power of our flesh, nor the righteousness of our flesh, we are in Christ because of faith by his God's power through the Spirit!
Romans 14:4 Who are you who judge another's servant? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand.
1 Corinthians 2:4 My speech and my preaching were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.
1 Corinthians 6:12 "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are expedient. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be brought under the power of anything.
2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves.
To assume the posture of self-survival in thinking like the world, in shake waking ourselves by self-will, until sleep deprivation set in, and we are delirious in fear and hallucination means we must by our own will stay in Christ a spirit person we cannot put ourselves in by any act of our flesh, no more so than Peter could walk upon the water by the power in his flesh. We must stay awake by the light, Christ Jesus, we do not stay awake by judgment of sinful flesh that is dead in Christ. Those teaching strong measure by a fleshly mind in fear of death by harsh treatment of the flesh in meetings attendance, bible studies, and works of law in preaching are self-survivalist, not in Christ by faith in the power of God revealing truth by His Spirit as promised by a God whom cannot lie or changes.
Ephesians 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might.
Ephesians 3:7 of which I was made a servant, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power.
Ephesians 3:16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;
Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
