Rom.8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.
Many read Paul's statements here and take them as metaphorically, how could God not be please with our flesh? We help others in our flesh, we uses are hands in good works, we can be honest with our hands, we can build a church a religion in our flesh, feed the poor, so what did Paul mean here?
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
First, we must understand the apostle Paul is speaking the truth of law, not what we feel, or think in our flesh. Judgment by a law is stating a truth of a crime committed, a condition we have violated. It is not judging the person feelings of good or bad. Nor is it judging some good works the person may have done or will do. It is rather stating a material fact of law that one has violated. Than when that fact is established it convicts the person of a transgression against the law.
James 4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge. 4:12 Only one is the lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge another?
A good person can run as Stop sign, and evil person can run the same Stop sign. Our feelings good or bad does not change the fact we have violated the law. The law has no feeling in the matter, it must convict upon proof of the violation. When sin enter into the human race it violated the law of life, that is, man was created for to live forever in his flesh upon this earth. Because sin violated the law, the judgment and/or conviction was passed on to us, we inherited sin from Adam. The conviction for sinning is death, sin removes us from the source of life YHWH. Subsequently, without God's life sustaining Spirit human die in their sins, and/or flesh. All human die in their flesh, all, not one has lived on since Adam.
Romans 5:12 Therefore, as sin entered into the world through one man, and death through sin; and so death passed to all men, because all sinned.
Nothing in the flesh under sin is good, it is just the opposite of life, so God's says it is death, it cannot produce life that must be given free of sin by our association with God's Spirit of life. Sin cannot please God, it evil to him in all sizes and amounts because it kills the Spirit of life which cannot associated with darkness. Men have for thousand's of years tried not to sin. They watched over themselves and other in stricked obedience to God's laws. Yet, no human can say they are free of sin by some good work or effort they have put forth. That is the reason the greatest men on earth and/or woman, even if they have had a life of service to God still die!
Romans 3:20 Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin."{Psalm 32:1-2}
This is why Paul was hated, Christian's, and Jews alike could not, and still cannot separated their feelings, and good works, by the truth of the law. They felt above the judgment of the law because of a life of service to God, and/or their love for God by meeting requirement of the law. In other words, they had built a resume over a time with God by their works, which made them better than a convicted sinners by God's law.
Ephesians 2:8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.
1 Corinthians 4:7 For who makes you different? And what do you have that you didn't receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
How could they not be better if others were blatantly violating God's laws when they were suffering to keep it? But what they missed and so many still miss is, feelings, emotions, and/or our judgments have nothing to do with the laws conviction of us as a sinner, we have run the Stop sign at birth. That is the truth of the law! So if in our flesh we cannot remove sins by our efforts of good or bad than nothing good dwells in our flesh for eternal life.
Rom.7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.
From that point Jew's and Gentiles alike have but one choice to eternal life. That choice is allowing the blood of Christ to take our sins away from God's judgment of them. Furthermore, greater or more judgments of our flesh will not help in taking sins away. (which was the point of the law). Further judgment will not give us eternal life. This is the conversation Paul is speaking to in Roman's the eighth chapter.
Rom.7:22 For I delight in God's law after the inward man, 7:23 but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members. 7:24 What a wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death? 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then with the mind, I myself serve God's law, but with the flesh, the sin's law.
Which is, if the laws judges your flesh as dead, what is the point of returning to a law that judges you dead nothing can come from further judgments, but more sin and death. If however, your flesh is accounted dead to judgment of sin in Christ you are free of condemnation of sins judgment, by laws that convicting you of sin. But if you stay in the judgment of flesh by laws created for sin instead of Christ, than you cannot please God in the flesh by judgments dead to God.
Romans 6:11 Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:12 Therefore don't let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
For us to be free, without condemnation, we must be in Christ, because Christ is sinless, our being part of his sinless life, that is, God had no judgment of Christ by the laws because the law is not for the righteous, his life makes us free from the judgment of the flesh. The flesh is dead (under laws of sin) in Christ. The freedom comes from our being in Christ, and not the law, which law convicting every human as dead to God; death from sin is the exact opposite of life. Our emotions and striving within our flesh with our brothers and sisters has nothing to do with God, or his judgment of us, why?
James 4:1 Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don't they come from your pleasures that war in your members? 4:2 You lust, and don't have. You kill, covet, and can't obtain. You fight and make war. You don't have, because you don't ask. 4:3 You ask, and don't receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures. 4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, don't you know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 4:5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who lives in us yearns jealously"? 4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."{Proverbs 3:34}
Because those judgments in our flesh don't exist with God, they exist in our own members under the thinking of our fleshly mind, and this is why Christ made this point so clear.
John 8:15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
Matt.7:1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged. 7:2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye? 7:4 Or how will you tell your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye;' and behold, the beam is in your own eye? 7:5 You hypocrite! First remove the beam out of your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck out of your brother's eye.
If we are in the body of Christ, how do we remove sin that doesn't exist? And if your not in the body of Christ, but under laws of death pointing out sin, will judging sin more put us into the body of Christ, so who will rescue us out of death?
