Solomon the wisest of all Kings said life was vanity a chasing after the wind. Strange thought because human in each generation don't think their lives or efforts on this earth are vanity! They simply refused to give into any thought of their lives being pointless, useless, and/or fruitless.

It is simply a chasing after the wind, because life cannot continual or anything we do under the Sun, our hates, our jealousy, our material things, even our name will vanish in time.

Has society increased in morals, in the gift of Holy Spirit, it certainly has prosper materially only to degrade into corruption of pride and vanity. Paul did not paint a self-help positive picture for any anointed brother of sister to think they were going to have wonderful prosperous life on this earth and pass into heavenly glory only to eat the icing on the cake.
Romans 5:3 Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering works perseverance.
James 5:10 Take, brothers, for an example of suffering and of patience, the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.

To suffer and groan as the very creation of all mankind has done since sin enter into our world bring vanity and death with it.

Because there is one chosen channel that God will uses to set creation free with, and that channel was not known to the world of his time, and certainly not to ours, which is Christ Jesus.
