Eccl.3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:
Solomon started his letter comparing mankind to the cycles of our earth, now it seem he is saying life has pattern human go through, just like the cycles of our earth and all living things. It does seem strange humans can be so blinded to the seasons of their own life, thinking that it is just haphazard depending upon them to change such cycles by human determination.

Hypocrites! You know how to discern the appearance of the sky, but you can't discern the signs of the times!
For an example when we were young we could play all day with just a simple toy, the greatest of all things was to play with that toy, but why as an adult is that toy no longer exciting captivating our entire thinking? Later magically we become captivated with the opposite sex that becomes the most important thing, but what of the rest of our lives?

There are cycles in each age group, changes come, and our thinking and feelings changes, what was once important is no longer the driving force in our lives, but so many refuse to accept those cycles in themselves and in others. They just can't understand why older people think the way the do? They blame them for old age thinking they are just old follies, but is it a cycle they to will have to go through?
Proverbs 11:29 He who troubles his own house shall inherit the wind. The foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.
Proverbs 15:20 A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.
Proverbs 19:13 A foolish son is the calamity of his father. A wife's quarrels are a continual dripping.
Wisdom is not common to mankind, they push, lie, act, and dress younger than their age refusing to be account into cycle of life each human will pass through if they live long enough. They foolishly refuse truth, losing their mental health in not being able to grow old gracefully. Forgetting the cycle of the sand box into a teenager, and adulthood no one seems to deny, but not so with old age.
Proverbs 17:6 Children's children are the crown of old men; the glory of children are their parents.
Proverbs 23:22 Listen to your father who gave you life, and don't despise your mother when she is old.
The wisdom of God protect us this is what Solomon tells us there is a time for all things in our life, pushing will not bring it, acting younger will not stop the truth; our we in harmony with the truth of our being created by God?

Yes, vanity of wanting something in their hearts refusing to accept circumstance in this life and making the best out of them. Life comes and its goes, refusing to live within those cycles can and will cause us to make foolish mistake, hurting others, and perhaps running a name we have built for good for entire life time.
