Rom.8:36 Even as it is written, "For your sake we are killed all day long. We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter."{Psalm 44:22}
Many have drawn faulty conclusions over Paul's words here thinking this is yet future or in the past when real persecution comes upon Christian's, then like sheep many will be killed, but is that the context of Paul's words in Roman's the Eighth Chapter?
John 10:26 But you don't believe, because you are not of my sheep, as I told you.
Luke 15:4 "Which of you men, if you had one hundred sheep, and lost one of them, wouldn't leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one that was lost, until he found it?
2Cor.1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; 1:4 who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us, even so our comfort also abounds through Christ. 1:6 But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer. 1:7 Our hope for you is steadfast, knowing that, since you are partakers of the sufferings, so also are you of the comfort.
No! The context is being dead to the flesh, and alive in Christ which creates a battle of flesh against the Spirit in each anointed child of God. The flesh is dead to God's judgment, no further judgment can be brought upon it by God righteous perfect law, it is dead gone as a man that has died!
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 1:13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 8:15 You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.
But still it lives, why, because God's Spirit is in the person predestine to live for whatever purpose God has for the person upon earth until they are called home. In this position they are a living sacrifice to God, doing the works in the body of Christ for his living temple, Jesus Christ. They are lead like sheep by the Holy Spirit, but can and often are lead by the flesh which kills them to Christ life indwelling them. This state of death is a real as death there is no coming out of this death like state without the power of God resurrecting them back into Christ life by Spirit.
James 1:15 Then the lust, when it has conceived, bears sin; and the sin, when it is full grown, brings forth death.
Philippians 3:10 that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death;
2 Corinthians 4:12 So then death works in us, but life in you.
2 Corinthians 4:11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh.
Rom.8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death. 8:3 For what the law couldn't do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; Rom.
This complex process, which one cannot understand without God's Spirit is the perfecting of ones faith in Christ, and the setting creation free from the enslavement to sins futility. Not one thought or action done in sin by the fleshly mind will go unconquered by the mind of Christ that a child of God is given being a body member.
Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then with the mind, I myself serve God's law, but with the flesh, the sin's law.
1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beg you, brothers,{The word for "brothers" here and where context allows may also be correctly translated "brothers and sisters" or "siblings."} through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 2:16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him?"{Isaiah 40:13} But we have Christ's mind.
Moreover, in these death like state alienated from the Spirit one learns the most profound of lesson unmerited kindness which cannot be understood without knowingly finding oneself separated from God by fleshly thinking how the depth of God's love reaches into the darkest places to save us out of death.
Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.
Ephesians 3:7 of which I was made a servant, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power.
Ephesians 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might
2 Corinthians 12:9 He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves.
This is the context of Paul words the working to God unseen by this world in the temple of Christ. Those in the flesh put off into future prophecy the persecution of God's congregation but Paul did not, it has been an on going working since Christ was raised from the dead. When this work is completed than God's judgment will start upon the rest.
1 Peter 4:17 For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God. If it begins first with us, what will happen to those who don't obey the Good News of God?
2 Corinthians 10:5 throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;
Ephesians 4:8 Therefore he says, "When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men."{Psalm 68:18}
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
Romans 12:1 Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
