Luke.12:13 One of the multitude said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me." 12:14 But he said to him, "Man, who made me a judge or an arbitrator over you?" 12:15 He said to them, "Beware! Keep yourselves from covetousness, for a man's life doesn't consist of the abundance of the things which he possesses."
“A man's life doesn't consist of his possesses”? How many of us agree with Christ words here? Now lets change the question, how many of us can live up to his words here? Frankly, in our world what we possess is everything from education, where we live, what we drive whom we work for, and the list is endless of the things we strive for, all of which is what we possess.
Revelation 21:5 He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." He said, "Write, for these words of God are faithful and true."
In other words, the man wanted Christ whom people were looking to as a king to fix a problem between him and his brother over inheritance. In Israel kings settled difference and made many judgments over possession, but why not Christ if he was the Son of God, the soon to be king of eternity? Here is the surprising answer that so many of us don't really get, and what is that? Christ did not come to fix our world!
1 John 4:9 By this God's love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, isn't the Father's, but is the world's.
John 17:16 They are not of the world even as I am not of the world.
Did you know that? In fact, he did not come to patch us up so we could be better citizens for this world. For thousand's of years that precisely what false religion has done, the very opposite of Christ, who would not allow anyone to pull him into politics, fights over issues of the day, or even making himself an arbitrator of this man's inheritance. The spirit of the world did not exist in Christ, and what spirit is that? The spirit of making oneself into an authority over others people business, and/or lives.
Luke.4:5 The devil, leading him up on a high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 4:6 The devil said to him, "I will give you all this authority, and their glory, for it has been delivered to me; and I give it to whomever I want. 4:7 If you therefore will worship before me, it will all be yours." 4:8 Jesus answered him, "Get behind me Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him only.'"{Deuteronomy 6:13}
James.3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth. 3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. 3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.
Yes, the possessing of power to make decision, judgments, rules, laws over others as being superior. The flesh lust for such recognition does it not? The greater the power the greater the respect, the more influence the more we possess. Christ on the other hand, was a servant to all, a slave to all, and not yet in power as king, he did not come to change the world but to do his Fathers will, and just what was his Father's will for this world?
John 5:19 Jesus therefore answered them, "Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise.
John 5:21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires.
It was and still is to create all things new, in heaven and on earth through the power of Christ kingdom. Did you notice, it was not to reform it into better government, or commerce, not even better religion, but to make it new, not some old, and some new, but completely new, why? What value was the fallen flesh to God? Christ stated it was of no profit at all, so anything it possesses is of no value at all for God's kingdom, correct?
Matthew 9:17 Neither do people put new wine into old wineskins, or else the skins would burst, and the wine be spilled, and the skins ruined. No, they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
All things from the fallen flesh is dead works, of no value to sinless life, which life cannot be gotten without the blood of Christ. What possession had one done or would do that God sent his son so we might have life? None! The anxious concerns we all have in making a living, rising families, and just living are common problems of this life, they will never go away as long as we are in this world. But the value God is making new, is us, in Spirit and truth, the inward man in perfecting faith, Clothing us not from this world, but clothing us with the Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we don't faint, but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day.
Ephesians 3:16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;
We are promised that all matters of this life will be taken care of,, and that we need not be anxious over daily living, the things the nation pursue, but rather be transformed into the likeness of Christ knowing God love us more than the birds of the heavens, and the Lilly of the field. Let us remember, all things are new, we are given new life, and the gifts of God freely, how can he not feed and take care of us?
Psalms 34:10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing.
Luke.6:24 "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You can't serve both God and Mammon. 6:25 Therefore, I tell you, don't be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn't life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 6:26 See the birds of the sky, that they don't sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren't you of much more value than they? 6:27 "Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment{literally, cubit} to his lifespan? 6:28 Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don't toil, neither do they spin, 6:29 yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. 6:30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won't he much more clothe you, you of little faith? 6:31 "Therefore don't be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?', 'What will we drink?' or, 'With what will we be clothed?' 6:32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 6:33 But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. 6:34 Therefore don't be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day's own evil is sufficient.
