1John.2:2 And he is the atoning sacrifice{"atoning sacrifice" is from the Greek "hilasmos," an appeasing, propitiating, or the means of appeasement or propitiation--the sacrifice that turns away God's wrath because of our sin.} for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the whole world. 2:3 This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments. 2:4 One who says, "I know him," and doesn't keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn't in him.
No one wants to be a liar, the word liar is a harsh word when stated to someone's face! Yet, if we say we have no sin, we are a liar! If we sin we are not keeping the commandants if you believe God's word the bible? All sin is lawlessness being lawless is not a compliment for a Christian's. Yet, if we say we have no sin, what are we?
Romans 3:4 May it never be! Yes, let God be found true, but every man a liar. As it is written, "That you might be justified in your words, and might prevail when you come into judgment."{Psalm 51:4}
1 John 1:10 If we say that we haven't sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. The Jews could not keep the law without remission of sin, to keep the commandments of God they must atone for sin. All sin and fall short of God's glory, so how could a Jew keep the commandments of God? Only by God's mercy found in the life of the victim, its blood to redeem the person, pay the price for their sins before God. However, let us recall that Christ is the end of the law, and the institutor of the law of love, by what? His blood, redeeming us from the curse of the law. In other words, all the law could do for a sinner was curse them, and not declare them righteous, meaning, blessing them with eternal life, without (sin) condemnation from God's law, and/or commandments. It seems we have weaved a fine web if we chose to believe we can keep commandments that Christ completed for us, abolishing the curse of the law removing our deserved judgment as a sinner?
1 John 2:22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;
Romans 9:32 Why? Because they didn't seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone;
Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.
Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under a curse. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who doesn't continue in all things that are written in the book of the law, to do them."{Deuteronomy 27:26}
Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. For it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree,"{Deuteronomy 21:23}
But the nagging word commandment(s) not commandment but more than one plagues us with doubt and fear of judgment, and it should if we are a works of law person. The Jews could not keep the commandments without blood, but they tried by self-merit, so why shouldn't we try to be perfect because that is the nature of our fallen flesh to be perfect by meeting rules and laws? However, the Jews deny Christ for self-righteousness through the law, but how can that be?
Romans 9:31 but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn't arrive at the law of righteousness.
Romans 10:3 For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn't subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
Romans 10:4 For Christ is the fulfillment{or, completion, or end} of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
The law was righteous, not sinners! Let us not confuse ourselves the law did not make us righteous it condemned us as a sinner, shut our mouths from boasting in our flesh where we say we are perfect by what we perform on earth. We could not build a big enough empire to redeem ourselves from sin. God made us a away by life, precious innocent life, let us not be fooled Israel failed by works of law, they did not obtain to righteousness, but self-righteousness that hated true righteousness the Christ.
Romans 9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn't follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith;
Now Christian's are going to keep the commandments by works of law? It time to sober up! The commandments will break our backs as sinners, they will become measuring line upon measuring line in our trying to be perfect claiming we are keeping the commandments, we are than a liar. The book of First John was not written for sinners, it was written for those declared righteous by the life blood of Christ acquitted of their sins by God's undeserved kindness. They had not made themselves righteous, but their righteousness, they had been made righteous by Christ righteousness, how?
1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:
2 Corinthians 5:21 For him who knew no sin he made to be sin on our behalf; so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Philippians 3:9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.
Those in Christ were put to death in their sins, that is, their flesh, and made alive in Christ in spirit. Their flesh was dead, it was not alive doing good works in keeping the commandments, it was dead, which means gone, buried, removed from any more laws on this earth or in heaven dead, of no value at all for any purpose to the living! Now we are in Christ as our life, yes, our life, not some of our life, but all of our life, not some from the flesh, and a little from the Spirit, but our life is the will of God, because in the Son of God is the will of God for all mankind.
Colossians 3:4 When Christ, our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with him in glory.
Ephesians 4:22 that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man, that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit;
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.
Now in that state of being redeem in Christ life, once for all times, we keep the commandments, not in the flesh or the fears of our flesh of God's judgments. But in Christ life, his merit keeps us in God's love because we belong to him as his life, that is, his body members. Nothing reeks of self-merit in Christ, nothing of our flesh stinks up the truth of why we stand before God in spirit. Moreover, lets us not forget the basic one-o-one of Christianity the law was for sinners not the righteous.
Romans 8:6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace;
Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be.
Romans 8:8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.
Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if it is so that the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if any man doesn't have the Spirit of Christ, he is not his.
Romans 8:12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Romans 8:13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
The law called all sinners in their fallen flesh, unrighteous, but all those in Christ life are righteous because they don't belong to themselves, but to Christ, Christ righteous meaning without sin, that is why simple ABC of Christianity tells us that Christ fulfilled the law completed it, because there are no sinners in Christ they have all been made alive from sin. Because their flesh exist no more it is dead freed of judgment of the law, and the commandments.
1Tim.1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;
1 John 3:9 Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God.
There is but one commandment in Christ which fulfills all the rest of the commandments, love. Compounding rules and law making people obey love is stupid and foolishness which is based upon the thinking of our fallen flesh, a flesh that is always unrighteous and dead to God! So who is the liar? It is our flesh according to our bibles all person in their flesh are liars.
Romans 7:18 For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good.
Jer.17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it? 17:10 I, Yahweh, search the mind, I try the heart, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.
Rom. 3:11 There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God. 3:12 They have all turned aside. They have together become unprofitable. There is no one who does good, no, not, so much as one."{Psalms 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Ecclesiastes 7:20} 3:13 "Their throat is an open tomb. With their tongues they have used deceit."{Psalm 5:9} "The poison of vipers is under their lips;"{Psalm 140:3} 3:14 "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness."{Psalm 10:7} 3:15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood. 3:16 Destruction and misery are in their ways. 3:17 The way of peace, they haven't known."{Isaiah 59:7-8} 3:18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."{Psalm 36:1} 3:19 Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God. 3:20 Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
