Daily Bible Thought > John.2:8,9.- Hates His Brother is in Darkness

John.2:8 Again, I write a new commandment to you, which is true in him and in you; because the darkness is passing away, and the true light already shines. 2:9 He who says he is in the light and hates his brother, is in the darkness even until now.

Let us not move from the new commandment into hundreds of subdivision called principles of the the new commandment to love one another.
John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just like I have loved you; that you also love one another.

The apostle John is again telling us, reiterating that he is not giving us another commandment but the new one. He is sayingā€¯ I am writing you about the new commandment which is true in him, and in us, because we are in Christ. How is the darkness passing away, and the true light already shines?

2 John 1:5 Now I beg you, dear lady, not as though I wrote to you a new commandment, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

The Jewish system of things was passing away, it was destroyed in 70 CE, and its form of worship at the temple in Jerusalem was ravaged by the Roman's, but the love of Christ remained in them as the true temple of God, it had been shining for them if they did not used the old law covenant going back into darkness.

John 1:4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn't overcome{The word translated "overcome" (katelaben) can also be translated "comprehended." It refers to getting a grip on an enemy to defeat him.} it.

Romans 13:12 The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let's therefore throw off the works of darkness, and let's put on the armor of light.

2Cor. 3:7 But if the service of death, written engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the children of Israel could not look steadfastly on the face of Moses for the glory of his face; which was passing away: 3:8 won't service of the Spirit be with much more glory? 3:9 For if the service of condemnation has glory, the service of righteousness exceeds much more in glory.
3:10 For most certainly that which has been made glorious has not been made glorious in this respect, by reason of the glory that surpasses. 3:11 For if that which passes away was with glory, much more that which remains is in glory. 3:12 Having therefore such a hope, we use great boldness of speech, 3:13 and not as Moses, who put a veil on his face, that the children of Israel wouldn't look steadfastly on the end of that which was passing away.
3:14 But their minds were hardened, for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains, because in Christ it passes away. 3:15 But to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. 3:16 But whenever one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.

This was the darkness John and the apostles of Christ was fighting at their time, a need to condemn brothers by the laws of the flesh, but they had forgotten the truth. God removed his own wrath, that is, hostility towards them by not judging them any longer by the old covenant law which was for the flesh, a service of death. When we judge someone for evil of their flesh we hate them because they
are acting evil, we hate our brother, and/or sister that is the darkness spoken to here by John.

James 4:11 Don't speak against one another, brothers. He who speaks against a brother and judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Hebrews 10:30 For we know him who said, "Vengeance belongs to me," says the Lord, "I will repay."{Deuteronomy 32:35} Again, "The Lord will judge his people."{Deuteronomy 32:36; Psalm 135:14}

Romans 14:10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

In other words, when we move away from the Spirit we can go no where else, but the flesh, when we judge flesh from flesh we judge darkness to darkness, that is, a hate, that is why Cain killed Abel over faith! The laws for the unrighteous flesh are death laws they are not the law of life, which is the law of Christ found in his body.

Galatians 2:18 For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a law-breaker.

Galatians 3:2 I just want to learn this from you. Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by hearing of faith?

Galatians 6:2 Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Which body were these brothers and sisters in that is the question? Christ body completed the law for us, it ended the hostility against our flesh by God's own wrath against the flesh that cannot be in subjection to his laws! Were they going to walk in darkness by the power of sin, the power of the law is sin, all sin is lawlessness, or were they going to live in life.

1 Corinthians 2:5 that your faith wouldn't stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in clay vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves.

Ephesians 1:19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might,

Hebrews 7:16 who has been made, not after the law of a fleshly commandment, but after the power of an endless life:

If they chose life, that is, the life of Christ then one would need to have laws of life that do not condemn us as sinners, but bless us as sinless in Christ righteous life. There are only two bodies for these brothers and sisters, the body of law given Moses, or the body of love given them by Christ merit. One is darkness that soon will pass away, and the other is light that already shines. Had God removed his wrath that is question? If we sin a little or a lot then God's wrath remain, we are under the old law, why? Here is the point some just can't seem to wrap their minds around?

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

Romans 2:5 But according to your hardness and unrepentant heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath, revelation, and of the righteous judgment of God;

Romans 4:15 For the law works wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God's wrath through him.

God gives us the solution to sin, how? By righteous blood, not the law, not our works, not anything mankind can set up or do on earth. The law Christ removed, hence, he also removed the sacrifices for sin under the law, animal blood! Those sacrifices kept Israel in the light of God by purchasing their sins against his righteous law. That light was extinguished by the righteous blood of Christ in a new covenant.

Hebrews 9:22 According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.

Hebrews 10:4 For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus.

Heb.10:29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will he be judged worthy of, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

Now the only acceptable means for salvation came through Christ blood, God rejects anything less than Christ blood after he raised him and exalted him as his own reflection. Those anointed in Christ had the promise Holy Spirit, they knew their judgment was removed or they could not received the Holy Spirit, that was a sign a seal of being sinless in God's eyes, that is, his not accounting their flesh alive anymore, but alive in the life of Christ that was now indwelling their mortal bodies.

1 John 3:6 Whoever remains in him doesn't sin. Whoever sins hasn't seen him, neither knows him.

1 John 3:9 Whoever is born of God doesn't commit sin, because his seed remains in him; and he can't sin, because he is born of God.

2 Timothy 2:19 However God's firm foundation stands, having this seal, "The Lord knows those who are his,"{Numbers 16:5} and, "Let every one who names the name of the Lord{TR reads "Christ" instead of "the Lord"} depart from unrighteousness."
The law of Christ must rule their lives, it was Christ righteousness that made them alive to God, because Christ is declared righteous by God, meaning having no sin, nor can he sin being made incorruptible. Nothing on earth, or in heaven can give a person sinlessness but Christ. The darkness Christ deliver us from was the fallen flesh, and its power over us by laws of death, how could one love his brother of the same spirit body of Christ by judging him with laws that no longer apply to him? Why would he do that not unless he hated him, and wanted rid of him, dead to Christ?

Matt.24:48 But if that evil servant should say in his heart, 'My lord is delaying his coming,' 24:49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and eat and drink with the drunkards, 24:50 the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn't expect it, and in an hour when he doesn't know it, 24:51 and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites. There is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.

This is question facing these brothers and sisters, would they allow their anger by judgment of the law to destroy their brothers and sisters in Christ? Righteous anger is murderous, it believes it is sinning against God, so it heats up, blindly killing the person they believe to be contemptuous towards God's righteous law, but does such anger workout God's new righteousness found in Christ Jesus who took our judgment for our sinful flesh away by his love for his Father?

Titus.3:1 Remind them to be in subjection to rulers and to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
3:2 to speak evil of no one, not to be contentious, to be gentle, showing all humility toward all men. 3:3 For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
3:4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward mankind appeared, 3:5 not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,
3:6 whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; 3:7 that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

That is the real question, can we hand such a person over by the power of the old law to Satan for the destruction of their flesh, so the spirit might be saved? Can we? Think about it? The power of the law is sin, but what is the power of indestructible life do? Is the flesh more important than the spirit to power of Christ life?

1 John 5:8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.

Jude 1:19 These are they who cause divisions, and are sensual, not having the Spirit.

1Tim.1:9 as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 1:10 for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine;

How can we measure out death, and get life, does not death measure out death, and life measure out life? Do we return evil for good? What is the judgment of the flesh in Christ? We know, we are not fooled! The law was the shadow, the elementary teaching are the law, not the Christ. Who indeed permits that we move on into the Christ fully, and become a full grown in the power of Christ, the flesh, the law, or the Spirit?

Romans 7:10 The commandment, which was for life, this I found to be for death;

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus made me free from the law of sin and of death.

2 Corinthians 1:10 who delivered us out of so great a death, and does deliver; on whom we have set our hope that he will also still deliver us;

2 Corinthians 2:16 to the one a stench from death to death; to the other a sweet aroma from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?

Colossians 1:22 yet now he has reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and blameless before him.

2 Timothy 1:10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.

Matt.7:1 "Don't judge, so that you won't be judged.
7:2 For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you.

Is there anything good in our flesh, how many times do we need that judgment, do we need the law punishing us over and over again with no sacrifice for sin left? The law is completed for us if we believe, have faith in Christ power, do we have different faith for different body members or one faith for all the body of Christ?

Ephesians 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling;

Ephesians 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

Rom.10:2 For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 10:3 For being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they didn't subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 10:4 For Christ is the fulfillment{or, completion, or end} of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

James. 2:4 haven't you shown partiality among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? 2:5 Listen, my beloved brothers. Didn't God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him? 2:6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Don't the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts?
2:7 Don't they blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called? 2:8 However, if you fulfill the royal law, according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself,"{Leviticus 19:18} you do well. 2:9 But if you show partiality, you commit sin, being convicted by the law as transgressors. 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. 2:11 For he who said, "Do not commit adultery,"{Exodus 20:14; Deuteronomy 5:18} also said, "Do not commit murder."{Exodus 10:13; Deuteronomy 5:17} Now if you do not commit adultery, but murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 2:12 So speak, and so do, as men who are to be judged by a law of freedom.
2:13 For judgment is without mercy to him who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
