Daily Bible Thought > Heb.5:4-6. - Where is Our Faith?

Where Is Our Faith?

Heb.5:4 Nobody takes this honor on himself, but he is called by God, just like Aaron was. 5:5 So also Christ didn't glorify himself to be made a high priest, but it was he who said to him, "You are my Son. Today I have become your father."{Psalm 2:7}
5:6 As he says also in another place, "You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek."{Psalm 110:4}

The fallen flesh is presumptuous there can be no doubt about that when it will honor itself upon earth by position created and promoted by human for honor and power of flesh.

Luke.18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"
18:9 He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.
18:10 "Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.
18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
18:12 I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.'
18:13 But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn't even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!'
18:14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."

Here what we see, yes, see, by sight, not by Spirit and truth, and what is that? When it is from God, that is, Spirit and truth, its most often not honored by flesh on earth. Moreover, when an appointment come from above in being anointed, as Christ was, it not honored by most humans at all, it is missed because it was not done by sight, but through faith.

1 John 3:1 Behold, how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn't know us, because it didn't know him.

1 John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.

1 John 4:5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak of the world, and the world hears them.

Yes, there was a time on earth appointments came to God's people through the shadow of the reality in Israel by its priestly class, but was that true of Christ, or any of his apostles? No? This was the foundation Christ laid for all those worshiping in truth and Spirit a pattern as it were for each person life born new into Christ. That is why the writer of Hebrews spoke of Melchizedek as Christ appointment not done through men, but directly from God as high priest over his body members, the actual spirit temple of God.

1 Peter 2:4 coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.

Luke 20:17 But he looked at them, and said, "Then what is this that is written, 'The stone which the builders rejected, the same was made the chief cornerstone?'{Psalm 118:22}

Luke 9:22 saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up."

Luke 17:25 But first, he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

Isaiah 53:3 He was despised, and rejected by men; a man of suffering, and acquainted with disease. He was despised as one from whom men hide their face; and we didn't respect him.

The whole book of Hebrews is about faith, not sight, it not a book that builds up a religion on earth as God physical people on earth where appointments come through men, by men. No! That is false religion the yeast of sinful flesh spreading corrupted into teaching so mankind can steal the field of God's planting by Spirit and truth.

Matt.13:24 He set another parable before them, saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field,
13:25 but while people slept, his enemy came and sowed darnel weeds{darnel is a weed grass (probably bearded darnel or lolium temulentum) that looks very much like wheat until it is mature, when the difference becomes very apparent.} also among the wheat, and went away.
13:26 But when the blade sprang up and brought forth fruit, then the darnel weeds appeared also.
13:27 The servants of the householder came and said to him, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where did this darnel come from?'
13:28 "He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' "The servants asked him, 'Do you want us to go and gather them up?'
13:29 "But he said, 'No, lest perhaps while you gather up the darnel weeds, you root up the wheat with them.
13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the harvest time I will tell the reapers, "First, gather up the darnel weeds, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn."'"

Yes, most human want honor through some group, they trade the glory of God for the image of man, they love the honor and glory of men in prominent position appointing them as the faithful slave, as a teacher, an elder, a leader. Such fleshly honor spreads the lie of false religion, Such power is a great mystery stealing the glory of our high priest for a false corrupt tree that produce anything but the love of God, or the love Christ has for each of us. Yes, like a vine indeed appearing beautiful, godly, and, good, but is full of thorns and stickers; all eating from it is stabbed all over with a life long torment of good words followed be evil actions.

Matt. 7:15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves.
7:16 By their fruits you will know them. Do you gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? 7:17 Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit.
7:18 A good tree can't produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit. 7:19 Every tree that doesn't grow good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire.
7:20 Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.

Yes, creating a disease mind that wrangles over right and wrongs like an attorney to justify the evils of their corrupt tree. Living a lie, to uses false words of being in the truth. How painful for a truth lover is that? How much precious time wasted in trying to justify what is corrupt as something good because it does a work in the name of God.

James. 3:12 Can a fig tree, my brothers, yield olives, or a vine figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh water.
3:13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom.
3:14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don't boast and don't lie against the truth.
3:15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic.
3:16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.
3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
3:18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

We must understand, all position in Christ, where true Christian must be, are gifts given to Christ body members they are not earned, they are not gained by meeting rules of some religion. However, those appointments can only be understood, and known they are from God, by our own faith.

1 Corinthians 4:7 For who makes you different? And what do you have that you didn't receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

1 Corinthians 6:16 Or don't you know that he who is joined to a prostitute is one body? For, "The two," says he, "will become one flesh."{Genesis 2:24}

2 Corinthians 3:3 being revealed that you are a letter of Christ, served by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone, but in tablets that are hearts of flesh.

2 Corinthians 5:16 Therefore we know no one after the flesh from now on. Even though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now we know him so no more.

Abraham is the father our faith another appointment not seen or known by man, but appointed by God, a test outside of all religion, not approved by any man, any nation, any person on earth, but a test directly from God and through God's Spirit. Many in false religion have taken what Abraham did in offering up his son, as theirs, demanding the same devotion owed them and their religion, but what presumptuousness!

Proverbs 5:3 For the lips of an adulteress drip honey. Her mouth is smoother than oil.

Proverbs 8:13 The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

Proverbs 22:14 The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit: he who is under Yahweh's wrath will fall into it.

Revelation 17:3 He carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet-colored animal, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.

Revelation 17:4 The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of the sexual immorality of the earth.

Revelation 17:6 I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered with great amazement.

The question Christ posed to us was? Will he find real faith on earth when he returns? Think hard and long about that, real faith outside of all the world directly from God in Spirit and truth!

Heb. 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
11:17 By faith, Abraham, being tested, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had gladly received the promises was offering up his one and only son;
11:18 even he to whom it was said, "In Isaac will your seed be called;"{Genesis 21:12}
11:19 concluding that God is able to raise up even from the dead. Figuratively speaking, he also did receive him back from the dead.
11:20 By faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even concerning things to come.
11:21 By faith, Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.
11:22 By faith, Joseph, when his end was near, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel; and gave instructions concerning his bones.
11:23 By faith, Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that he was a beautiful child, and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.
11:24 By faith, Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
11:25 choosing rather to share ill treatment with God's people, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a time;
11:26 accounting the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
11:27 By faith, he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
11:28 By faith, he kept the Passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.
11:29 By faith, they passed through the Red Sea as on dry land. When the Egyptians tried to do so, they were swallowed up.
11:30 By faith, the walls of Jericho fell down, after they had been encircled for seven days.
11:31 By faith, Rahab the prostitute, didn't perish with those who were disobedient, having received the spies in peace.
11:32 What more shall I say? For the time would fail me if I told of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets;
11:33 who, through faith subdued kingdoms, worked out righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,{Daniel 6:22-23}
11:34 quenched the power of fire,{Daniel 3:1-30} escaped the edge of the sword,{1 Kings 19:1-3; 2 Kings 6:31-7:20} from weakness were made strong, grew mighty in war, and caused foreign armies to flee.
11:35 Women received their dead by resurrection.{1 Kings 19:1-3; 2 Kings 6:31-7:20} Others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.
11:36 Others were tried by mocking and scourging, yes, moreover by bonds and imprisonment.
11:37 They were stoned.{2 Chronicles 24:20-21} They were sawn apart. They were tempted. They were slain with the sword.{Jeremiah 26:20-23; 1 Kings 19:10} They went around in sheep skins and in goat skins; being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated
11:38 (of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts, mountains, caves, and the holes of the earth.
11:39 These all, having had testimony given to them through their faith, didn't receive the promise,
11:40 God having provided some better thing concerning us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
